these guys won’t be covering him either. sure ed reed is a fabulous playmaker, but polamalu is just fabulously overrated.
if everything works out right for Davis, he could eventually be right up there with AGates.

Polamalu overrated? Were you under a rock the last two years? He’s the new Brian Dawkins in the run game, only faster and with a better nose for the ball. He beat up Antonio Gates on MNF in week 5, which means he can do the same to any TE in the NFL, including Vernon Davis. He had two huge interceptions in the playoffs, if you include the one that was wrongly overruled, and numerous other big plays. I predict he wins DPOY honors in one of the next three seasons.

i remember Cressey saying most numbers are exaggerated a bit…i remember one guy said he had way over a 500lb clean when shane’s record is 517
they dont have alot of those exercises in the combine so id take it with a grain of salt
can guys in the nfl actually clean 517??
whos shane.
i find this very hard to believe.
I believe he was referring to Shane Hammond - US Heavyweight Olympic lifter - OL lifters live on the clean movement and therefore, excel. What I believe he is implying is that the reported number is BS b/c it would be more than what the current US heavyweight OL lifter can manage…I too call BS on that reported lift.

Polamalu is a great athlete with no respect for his body. He is not afraid to put himself in an awkward position to make a play.
I cringe when I watch him play sometimes.
His man to man coverage skills are not the best but they are still good. Since he is a safety they don’t have to be better than they are.
Overrated? I don’t know. He has been getting a hell of a lot of publicity but he has been playing really well.
I think he has been overhyped. I don’t think anyone is as good as some of the press has made him out to be. He is only human. You can’t hold that against him.

Yeah, he got a ton of hype last year, but I think Polamalu’s a stud. He just flies to the football and takes on anyone. Maybe he gets so much hype because he plays so damn hard, doesn’t talk shit, and seems like a good guy. He’s just a playmaker who’s all business.

Exactly. He flies around like a Tomahawk ICBM and blows people up. Then he stands up and jogs back to the huddle.
You have to look at the hype in a relative way. If the media extols a player as the second coming of Christ, that just means that he’s a stud.

A KIA? Still?
He seems like a good guy. In this day and age with so many athletes fucking up it is good the hear about the good guys.
I go to UMD and have watched VD for the past two seasons. He really is as good as all the hype. His game speed is ridiculous and he’s the most physical tight end I’ve ever seen. Seen him around campus a bunch of times; definitely 250, but more like 6 foot even. Whoever takes him in the draft is getting a premiere tight end who is ready to step in.

If only he would get a haircut.
Yeah, a buddy of mine works for an NFL team and interviewed him at the Combine the year he was drafted, said he was the kind of guy he wanted his sister to marry. Can’t think of much higher praise than that.

I don’t remember Sean Taylors numbers from last year, but they were awesome. I know he didnt run great in the combine, but his strength numbers were astronomical, and he is a MONSTER for a saftey. I cant wait to see these two line up against eachother.

yeah. if this guy can tone down that knuckleheadedness, he has the chance to be really special.

Yep, he is better than polamalu too. Bigger, stronger, meaner, harder hitter.
Its just Polamalu is a nice guy, Taylor is a scumbag.
Matt Jones (WR Jacksonville) put up similar ridiculous numbers last year.
Those huge combine numbers got him drafted #21 overall. Not bad for a guy who, before the combine, was considered a player without a position (he played QB in college) who had a very suspect future in pro football.
Vernon Davis was considered a fine prospect long before he showed up in Indianapolis. His performance at the combine have made him a consensus top 10 pick, which is very rare for a TE.
Troy P. is a true professional in my opinion. He studied and studied and studied. Want to know why he’s always in the right place at the right time? It’s not luck or talent, that will only get you so far. It’s his drive and dedication toward being a champion that got him there. He’s a great role model for the youngsters out there too.
Sean Taylor, in all his god given talent can’t and never will hold a candle to Troy because of that. He’s a punk-ass thug.
