VACATION ... TUESDAY-WEDNESDAY

POST YOUR QUESTIONS

Hey CT

how would you prepare for your off season football program

would you test your 1rm or use calculations ? and would you do any corrections like take 5 % off to make sure you can progress ?

hope you see this

thx…

you mentioned that when trying to lose fat, carbs are ok at breakfast and pre-workout, which makes sense. what would one do if he/she was working out first thing in the morning? would a post workout meal be acceptable in this case? or would it be better to simply have a “massive” pre-workout carb-up

Thibs,

I started that old insulin resistance protocol from poloquin’s website today. For the next two weeks i bought 1 bottle of fenuplex (120 ct.), 1 botle of insulinomics (90 ct.), and 1 bottle of Ultra HCL 4.0 (90 ct.). planning on taking:

8 fenuplex per day
6 insulinomics per day
6 Ultra HCL per day

i know the protocol calls for two of each per meal, but what if you eat 6 times a day? would you do 1 of insulinomics and ultra per meal, or (considering that i have carbs twice: breakfast and finibars before workout) should i do 2 of each supplement (like originally prescribed) on the carb meals, and just take the rest on 1 or 2 of my other P+F meals?

i appreciate the response

Actually you don’t have to use an exact percentage. The goal for traditional exercises is to use the heaviest load with which you can still accelerate, or at least have no sticking point, for all the reps. The percentage given is just an idea of what that zone should be.

You don’t want a ‘‘massive’’ intake that might be hard to digest and that will thus rob you of some energy when training. An a post-workout carbs intake is not the best option because your capacity to produce insulin is limited as long as catecholamines are present in the body (released during your workout). I would suggest having the ‘‘post-workout’’ carbs intake 45-60 minutes after your workout; when your body’s capacity to produce insulin is back to normal BUT when you are still more likely to store the nutrients in the muscles.

Only use the first two supplements in meals with a significant amount of carbs. If you are going to use HCL (I don’t use it anymore as it gave me stomach ulcers) it should be at every meal. But make sure that you REALLY need it. Last thing you want is too much stomach acidity, trust me on this!

Had the exact same experience with HCL. Went to to doc and needed a med to reduce stomach acid… which I later pinpointed to the HCL use, crazy stomach discomfort and pain. Haven’t touched it since.

Never liked HCL by itself - I use a multienzyme tablet instead, it has some HCL in it but also full spectrum of other enzymes to aid digestion. Have never felt better. Solved my own acid reflux and nebula problem with proper diet, multienzyme, apple cider vinegar and Celtic Sea Salt all moderately used. No meds…

Straight HCL can cause problems as you have experienced.

Usually, younger guys don’t need any measures to help digestion - happens more when stomach acid drops off in some, 35 yr+.
