Using a Bent Barbell

See aforementioned technique caveat. What’s wrong with sharing a reference point as well as advice?

Which reference point? And which caveat? All I see is

If you want to see a video then wait until tomorrow, I don’t have the time or patience to upload anything right now.

@chris_ottawa first directed to jbackos, but applies to you as well.

But I digress…

Not sure what’s going on here . FWIW I bought a new cheaper York barbell for £125 plus postage and delivery. I would get a more expensive one but I fear breaking it again with Front squats. Don’t want a bar snapping on me not matter how unlikely. My old man will use the ends as rollers for his garage.

Spotter’s lucky the jagged edges didn’t catch him in the throat considering how far up the other dudes butt he was. Height difference saved him

The weights dropped directly to the side. He would need to be doing a particularly stranger spot from behind to catch it in the throat. His head went back in reaction to the sound and fast moving bar going past his face which makes it look worse for the spotter than it was.

What is lucky is that there was no side spotter which there should be for what looks like 7 plates.

You’re missing the point. He was giving me advice that I didn’t agree with, and other people who definitely know what they are talking about (Greg Nuckols for one) have given different advice regarding a similar situation to mine. His ideas didn’t seem convincing, and when I checked his training log he wasn’t doing anything particularly impressive. I was trying not to be rude since he is just trying to help and not being an asshole like some people on here, but the question was basically “Who are you and why should I follow your questionable advice?”. He didn’t throw a tantrum either, he answered my question and proceeded to give more suggestions. Maybe you should follow his example, you are doing nothing to help anyone and are taking up the cause of someone who isn’t even trying to argue.

460 squat, 365 bench. Neither is a PR. I have posted deadlift videos in another thread if you want to see. I have a Dave Ricks-style pull which I am trying to fix.

Fwiw Chris and jbackos both have helped me out tremendously with my deadlift. While they did get pissed off at eachother in my thread they both contributed alot in terms of advice and their own experiences. I’m well aware that not all of their advice is 100% correct, but I do appreciate the detail and obvious effort they’ve put into their responses. I appreciate it a lot more than people taking 5 seconds to add their “2 cents” advising me to “keep it simple stupid”.

When I joined this forum a few months ago I couldn’t pull over 275 without looking like a fishing rod. Thanks to both Chris, jbackos and several other experienced lifters I’ve finally started pulling above 315 without rounding my back at all. Their advice does work.
