Look its simple supply and demand. Ozil can be under contract at Arsenal 500.000 p/w. He can be nearing the final few months of his contract and reject to sign a new deal because he feels like he deserves more money. He simply becomes a free agent and gets paid whatever somebody thinks he is worth…

Absolutely true. Which is why it’s so surprising that so many people got so worked up about people asking for a raise.
Once again they have every right to ask for a raise in their club teams. They simply do not have to sign a new contract if they are happy with their current deal and go to a different club that will pay them what they think they are worth…
Federations do not have people like Roman Abramovich and sheiks to pay their players contracts. It as seen as patriotic to play for your country. When you qualify you get prize money and that is split. The federation does not decide how much prize money , it is determined before tournament by Fifa, Uefa, AFC, etc. This prize money is usually in relation to how much they make from the tournament etc.
There main problem should be with Fifa and not the US soccer federation. It would go something like this.

Beyond game revenue, U.S. Soccer brings in money through marketing and sponsorships; this category accounts for about half of the total revenues in recent years. Marketing and sponsorships, which includes the sale of broadcast rights, is hard to credit to either the men or women, because these transactions are made as a bundle, not separately for each team.
That said, there is anecdotal evidence that the on-the-field success of the women’s team has given the federation a windfall.
“The World Cup final in 2015 and this year’s final set records for U.S. viewership for a soccer game,” said Ryan J. I do not know the figures for sponsorship revenue, nor do I know what the actual pay structure is like. But neither does anyone else here. Maybe there’s a real pay gap, maybe there isn’t.

ok but that has to do with ticket sales… the main source of income is tournament prize money for the men, not from the 30$ ticket…
