I may be misinformed but I thought the whole fuss was about the prize money the men took home compared to the women despite the fact thought the women are world champions and the males lost in the r16 in 2010.
The problem is that the worst placed team that goes crashing out in the group state gets more money than the womens champions. This is not the Chinese, Us, or Narnian federation fault. This is simply fifa spliting the amount of revenue made in the mens or womens Fifa" world cup
So my question is what do the womens team want? I guess I have misunderstood something?
Galileo Galilei was being objective also, look what happened to him. Some people are just sensitive about some topics and don’t care about “objective”.
Great post but it will fall on deaf ears.
Don’t reply to me, I don’t like to engage in discussions with people who hold sexist views such as yourself.
Look, another stable genius.
Well the concepts ARE simple, not my fault if people refuse to understand them.
Now, do you have something constructive to add to this thread, or are you going to keep prancing around in here every now and then, with your passive agressive remarks while you duck behind trolls like yorkshite iron?
This just confirmed what I suspected. A bunch of peple who do not anything about sports.
Check out the prize money for Fifas tournaments like the euros vs the gold cup or oceania cup. They are not the same tournaments just like the mens and womens world cup are seperate tournaments They do not generate the same revenue. The prize money for the mens team was 5m because thats the prize for r16 exit in the mens world cup. Its A small amount of the 400m prize money…
Its like having 2 salesman for the same company. One does 2000 $ in sales the other only 400$… It dpesnt matter if the guy who sold only 400$ made a dale to bill gates… He made significantly less
It is my understanding they are fighting for their SALARIES to change. Salaries are not reliant on prize money. Bonuses are.
Edit: although I’m sure they’re fighting for higher bonuses too
Can you tell me how much revenue each side generates?
Also, if you can, and that shows to be accurate, why do you think that matters? Is that something that would matter in the EU? In America is very common to push for more pay if you WANT (not need) it, because it doesn’t negatively effect your peers.
Players Represent their respective national teams. They do not get paid unlike in their club teams. Only thing They get when playing for their country is bonuses…
I CAN not tell you how much each team generates but I CAN tell you how much each tournament generates.
A valid argument would be for the women to say they want 100% of what they generate…because it looks like they want A piece of the mens cake which they did not generate
My understanding is that they’re also looking for equivalent travel arrangements (private vs commercial) and for number of games played on artificial turf to be more balanced. There maybe other non-monetary things I’ve forgotten.
In my experience, people rarely argue about the same issue irl and especially online. Imo, the women’s team is doing what every athlete does, push for more money after achieving something. We see it all the time in other sports. The difference to me is that some people, particularly politicians, have turned this into something more than that. It’s become a gender pay issue and context is ignored, on both sides, that undermines their argument.
There main argument is that while representing the U s Of A they are not getting the same amount Of prize money. Prize money is determined by fifa not the Us soccer federation.
So the answer to why they are not getting paid the same despite obviously better results is the revenue of the respective tournaments.
They have everyright to say they want an increase in pay in their clubs. However an international tournaments has prize money based on revenue. They can not expect to split 100m if fifa only makes 100m they have to give to runner up 3rd place Quarterfinalist etc…
Special olympics are not the same as the olympics etc… Its a different competition
Agreed. The problem I’ve had in this thread is the equal-but-opposite knee-jerk response, that started with that women shouldn’t over-celebrate (unseemly!) and then moved to how dare they presume to request a pay increase and parity in playing and travel conditions. They dare like anyone else. They should dare; why not? Women are paid less than men in large part because we are conflict-avoidant and don’t ask for raises. Their case will stand or fall on its merits, hopefully. It shouldn’t be politicized by either side because both sides represent something ugly.
As an American with an understanding of American business, this doesn’t seem to be the main argument. I posted above a list of their arguments. Did you read it?
Does this explain the difference in their pay structure and salaries? I mean I know it doesn’t, but do you think it does?
This isn’t any argument I’ve seen them making. Can you share where you think they’re asking for that?
Cretin?
Listen, ya semen enologist, I have been nothing but civil to you, as the gentleman that I am, and yet you insist on throwing insults.
We can have a civil discussion if you like but If you want to continue with your childish behaviour then I have nothing else to discuss with you, for I will not go down to your level.
