This is my only true issue with china. I have no problem with them competing from global prominence, but the way they treat the environment is downright shameful and disgusting.
I totally agree with you but if they do decide to do something , it will be done yesterday . No Politicking there

Some find that their human rights practices leave a little to be desired as well.

If you mean , the lack of “POLITICS”? It is convoluted to say the least

Iircc, you are wrong about the carriers.

Going off what Wikipedia says, China has one carrier that isn’t really fitted for battle.

yea I meant the lack of politics;

On the one hand, from what you say, it suggests theyre able to get shit done when they decide to do it;

On the other hand, idk how it favors the govt to leave the people out of so many choices in the long term;
phala wrote:
IMO the US and China are too economically intertwined to go to war;

Also, Russia and China are not as close of allies as everyone believes, this is apparent if you read RT network and Chinese media
This is how I feel.

The more developed countries become the less likely they will go to war in the 21st century I think. Tension, harsh words, soft moves maybe. Actual full out war? Nah.

OK. I’d like to know how the Chinese think the island building in a disputed area or the us having naval ships in international waters is more a threat to their sovernty or sphere of interest than them planning on building a Nicaraguan canal? If they want to control the lanes of international trade off their coast where do they get off screwing with ours in this hemisphere? Anyone else see a problem here?

I see a problem with it. And what heppens when they disregard the current agreement surrounding Anartica? Anartica is a very sensitive area and has the potential to be a highly dangerous situation. The current agreement as written expires 2048. I don’t see the wording of that agreement holding on until then.

you say tomato ,I say tomato:) In my opinion some one does a pretty good job (NOT) leaving the people out of the choices . I did not see any homeless . I do know in a city of 14.3 million there had to be some hiding places . My view was from mostly very affluent . We took the train from Shanghai to Beijing approx 800 miles with 2 stops in 5 hours . It is a HUGE industry . We went every where unassisted , never felt unsafe , We did have a driver but that is a whole story to it’s self .

Over all Between Shanghai, NYC ,London or Paris it would be a toss up where I would want to live . Pollution would probably knock Shanghai out

No big deal, nothing to see here…

Thanks for sharing.

Yeah, nothing to see at all.

Lol. A hot war against China is fantastical. The US would lose basically overnight, because China would immediately dump a trillion dollars in Treasuries/bonds on the market and Americans would die by the millions due to poverty.

Forget about a hot war, we haven’t figured out how to even win the cold war. Now they just hacked data involving more than 4 million past and present federal workers!!

Meanwhile, China is pumping $46 billion into Pakistan in an economic infrastructure & trade corridor agreement.

So, what happens when the Taliban doesn’t like the Quad-i-Azam solar park in Bahawalpur or has a suicide bomber strike the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China & Lahore, or blow up a Wind-power project, or worse, kidnap and behead workers in a Hydro-power project? What then?

In an ideal world China would step up and shoulder some of the militant muslim problem the world currently faces, and deal with it accordingly.

What will probably happen is nothing because i firmly believe China does not give a shit about people being killed or human rights, or the environment, or anything other than status and money.

China…think Nazi Germany but with the world’s most people, largest nuclear armed army and greatest economy.
