US Supplement Stores

What are the biggest/best/cheapest supplement stores in the US?

Thanks.

Come on peeps - surely someone can help me out??

If you want the best, you have to be ready to spend a little more. Cheap is cheap!

I’m just looking for a supplement store that sells all the major brands and is faily cheap.

Just curious, why not just buy supplements here?

Vitamin Shoppe (vitaminshoppe.com)

vitamins.com (www.puritansale.com)

GNC (probably most well known, but known here as being shitty and overpriced)

this site (but shipping globally? I don’t know)

I recommend Vitamin Shoppe. GNC really is bullshit.

I would recommend Biotest, because all I hear are good things, but i’ve personally never ordered anything from this site, so I can’t speak from personal experience.

Vitamin Shoppe is not to be confused with Vitamin World… haha I went in their protein section… that was the most ridiculously funny set of supplements ever: “Anabolic 3000” and what have you.

Is a bit dubious of a question, b/c to be in the supplement business and to be the “biggest” one will most definitely not be the cheapest. It’s like asking, “What’s the biggest/best/cheapest liquor store in the US?” There isn’t such.

Just as there isn’t a biggest/best/cheapest mountain bike store; surf store; etc. If supplements were indeed a commodity - such as bread, cereal, milk, eggs, motor oil, etc - then you’d find competition driven almost exclusively as you’re requesting: By price alone.

God help us all if that ever happens b/c you can guarentee those supplements you currently purchase solely based upon price are the “tastes great, less filling” of the supplement world (i.e. their formulation is designed for pricepoint, not efficacy).

As it stands currently, the industry is in a growing phase whereby the classic retail outlets (and their required margins and sales costs) are juxipositioned w/ a growing online consumer that can get the customer support online that it isn’t getting in a retail store.

Now, to answer your question about supplement stores in the US, w/o any reference to pricing or “the best” (which is quite subjective). The following are broken down by brick and mortar stores and online; the retailers are in no particular order:

A. Brick and Mortar:

  1. GNC, 2) Vitamin World, 3) Vitamin Shoppe (regional, but growing nationally), 4) Whole Foods / Wild Oats, 5) Hi-Health (Arizona Only), 6) Max Muscle (regional), 7) 24-Hr Fitness, 8) Bally, 9) Great Earth, 10) several more that I’m certain I’m missing

B. Online:

  1. T-Nation.com, 2) Bodybuilding.com, 3) VitaminShoppe.com, 4)GNC.com, 5) Netrition.com, 6) etc, etc

Enjoy. - c

I have good luck at FitRx.com. Decent prices and fast shipping at only $6.95. If you google “fitrx coupon code” you can usually find a code for free shipping. They even carry some Biotest products(including HOT-ROX Extreme)!
