I challenge you to find ONE SINGLE EXAMPLE in history – any epoch, any civilization – where a nation has enjoyed nearly the kind of relative power that the US has and has not used it to subjugate and conquer. By any standards other than the fucking IMPOSSIBLE ones that the rest of the world uses for us, we are REALLY REALLY FUCKING NICE.
We are not the Soviets, we are not the British, we are not the Aztecs, we are not the Chinese, we are not the Germans, we are not the Romans. Could we kick all sorts of ass and conquer all sorts of people? Yup – to give you an example, it has been estimated by EU officials that the combined navies of the next ten largest military powers could not sink ONE US carrier group, and we have seven on active rotation. But hey, UNLIKE ANYONE ELSE IN HISTORY, we haven’t used this extraordinarily large stick (since the Phillipines, you can look the date up for that yourself) to annex new territory. We are not marching through your hometown, forcing everyone to learn our language and accept our rule. WE WOULD RATHER TRADE WITH YOU.
