Probably not, but there are plenty of independents and people who weren’t formerly engaged in politics who did.
Trumpism isn’t about ideological purity, so I think it’s a mistake to focus on policy.
I think the American electorate is all over the damn place right now. We moved closer to the center in the House while, at the same time, liberal ballot measures did well (legal weed, $15 minimum wage).

If the intention really was to hold a press conference outside a landscaping business then I don’t see what the big deal is. It’s a bit unconventional but whatever.
Even if he wanted to do something like the Swedish approach, controversial as it is, it could have been handled much better.
Seems to me that a lot of people who said they were going to vote for him were only doing so because they agree with most of his policies and not because they like him, but maybe those are only the smarter ones.
Clicks are money and you can’t get as many clicks if you don’t have headlines or takes that get people’s attention.
It’s just the internet is quicker than old media. It’s the modern version of “is your house about to catch on fire from faulty gas lines? Join us at 6 to find out!”

It looks like there’s been a marked change in the tone of certain media outlets in the last 24 hours or so. Fox News and the New York Post have gone from sycophancy to telling Trump to grow the fuck up.
