Yeah, like the one from yesterday about there being more votes in WI than registered voters. Obviously and easily verifiable as false.
What makes no sense about these conspiracy theories is that they require you to believe a group of people able to hatch and pull off a plan to swing the highest of elections in the most powerful country in the world, yet lack the most basic abilities like being able to count or simply have their final act be a literal ballot dump in a gutter.

In a sad sign of the times, the county registrar in Clark County, Nevada, said that his wife and mother are worried about his safety. After what we saw in Maricopa County, Arizona, when pro-Trump protesters showed up last night and caused a disturbance outside where vote counting was going on, it’s understandable.

Seriously, yes there is but it depends on which country. If people have authority they will always abuse it. It’s a fact of life. It really shouldn’t be surprising. It’s why you need the police body cams and shit plus laws curbing police powers.
We also have these cams and similar laws mentioned above where I live NOW and the police here are excessively polite wusses if they know you know the law and they don’t have any legal grounds to fuck with you.
Where I used to live, some fuckheads would do shit when they’re bored like take you to a a secluded corner and accuse you of being a gang member because of your race and on absurd grounds like being in a group of friends exceeding a certain number after a certain time at night and that constitutes an “illegal gathering”. Then they beat the shit out of you. Then they’d say they “let you off” by not charging you with gang activities. You can’t make this shit up man.
The police system was also corrupt because they were paid peanuts. When you pay peanuts, you get monkeys. And it doesn’t matter if there are a couple of good cops. The fact is that they voluntarily work for a corrupt institution where assholes also fuck with minorities for fun and do stuff like collect bribes.
The good cops are passively partaking in all this by not speaking out when someone does something illegal when their main job is to uphold the law. Simply put, they just cover for one another in such an institution. And this institution has people with guns and powers to use force that exceed those of the average civilian.

Yeah someone shared a confederate flag Obama button a few months back. I thought I’m surprised I had never heard of that. And in 3 seconds I knew the reason why I hadn’t. His campaign never put one out. The photo was either doctored or someone had created it themselves.
It’s not like you have to pour through a library or anything. Most of this stuff you can find out almost immediately.

You know what’s really galling me right now? The fact that Hillary of all people acted better than Trump when she lost. The person who basically the entire right side of the aisle despises didn’t throw the legitimacy of the country’s election under the bus. No conspiracy theories from her (can’t say the same for all of her wing nut supporters, but hey, kooks in both sides).

Well, frankly that’s bullshit. It didn’t happen in 2000 to near this degree, and that was far worse in many ways. Country over party. Period, full stop.

I for one am frustrated at the pace of counting. Nevada has gone from 75% to 76% today. I was expecting to be in the 90s by now.
There’s a lot of money in it I think. A lot of them surrounding the virus were done by people that were about to put out a book or start content creation hoping to be monetized by YouTube. Half my family was spellbound by those fuckers. As an engineer that is literally taught to vet everything with heavy skepticism and logic, that fucking kills me.

I can understand where you’re coming from for sure. I don’t understand the idea of NOT being integrity first. Obviously politicians are not even close to saints, but dammit there’s got to be some kind of standard we uphold as voters. And honestly I can get behind someone who compromises in the Senate or White House (since, you know, we don’t have kings and we have hundreds of legislators). I don’t have to like it or even approve to understand sometimes you just don’t win.

In my experience as an engineer and with working with other engineers, it is hard to get something past your typical engineer. Maybe skeptical people are drawn to the objectivity of engineering?

My point was while she filed for recounts and bitched she didn’t claim the election was a fraud and that it was all rigged. She didn’t take the country down for the sake of her ego. Which is more than sizeable.
I’m noticing you and I seem to be mirror opposites of each other in several instances (fat-to-skinny vs skinny-to-fat, etc.), because I believed everything until I got a little ways into engineering school. The skepticism came later. But nonetheless, most engineers under 50 that I know are able to think through all of this stuff pretty quickly.
I didn’t count that as a conspiracy theory, because there was enough smoke for an investigation to take place. Just like her emails.
So sour grapes? Yes. Conspiracy theory? Not in my book. The conclusion of the investigation was that the Russians attempted to meddle, and collusion on the part of Trump can’t be proved. Ok, fine. So if he’s guilty it can’t be proved so no trial. And if he’s innocent then he’s innocent, no trial.
But conspiracy theories don’t warrant investigations.
