Could be on to something here but I think we will see a female President shortly. Well within the next 16 years perhaps? Should preface that by saying a female President elected. Not one coming in via other means.
I still think HRC was vilified on the right for a long time and she was by no means universally loved on the left. The combination might have been too much. Not sure if I buy America wasn’t ready for a woman as much as maybe they weren’t ready for THAT woman. But who knows.

What’s interesting to me is that if Trump loses I believe a lot of people are going to say Covid cost him. I don’t think that will be the case. I think Covid was his opportunity to seal the deal. It was his 9/11 moment to at least attempt to bring people together. We’ve talked about this before but he needed to emulate GWB. Instead he was himself. And if he loses I believe it will be because people are tired of what “himself” is. They don’t want tweets attacking doctors, chants about locking up political opponents, belittling people who don’t praise him, and middle school insults and behavior. Maybe that isn’t as big of a deal when we aren’t in a crisis. But in a crisis I believe it looks extra bad. I don’t think when over 235,000 people have died of something in a short time that the majority of people want doctors attacked.
Covid was his chance to potentially coast in this election and I believe he squandered it completely. If he loses it will be because people saw that even in a national crisis he couldn’t behave like an adult. He couldn’t be a leader when a leader was needed most. It was his presidential moment and he blew it big time.
But we should all know soon enough (unless it’s super tight) which predictions in here are closest to correct. Going to be an incredibly weird election to watch. With the potential for giant swings depending on if Election Day in person votes are counted first or whatever. If I was a pundit and not someone who only talked politics on a bodybuilding forum I would be very careful about calling this one early. Much more careful than normal.

Couldn’t agree more. COVID wasn’t the problem, COVID exposed the problem to folks who may not have been paying attention.
Win or lose, I think Biden deserves credit for running a solid campaign. He was disciplined, consistent and had a message that resonated with a lot of people. His campaign executed on their process every day - consistency over intensity. Also have to respect his ability to unify the party - a far cry from 2016. Although that may have had more to do with Trump than Biden. It’ll be interesting to see how long that sense of unity lasts if Biden win and especially if he loses.

That’s what makes Trump a great President. He has driven losers like that out of the Republican Party. There’s a possibility that there will be two Parties after Trump, whereas BuClushama were one.
Very true, great point. His campaign was excellent. Messaging, timing, the whole thing. The smartest part of the campaign was the decision to stand down in those weeks when Trump was having a disastrous string of days - Trumpkins kept whining that Biden wouldn’t get out of his basement, but what he and his campaign were really doing was not interrupting an enemy who was beating himself.

Broader generalization, yes, but there’s some strong divergence. Full freedom and self-determination are a big part of Libertarianism. Trump’s (claimed) fiscal and (claimed) 2A policies are aligned with Libertarianism, as are some of Biden’s (claimed) social policies, but both are watered down by about 90%. Biden’s history of supporting racism and his desire for gun control and increased government lose the (L) vote for him, while Trump’s stances on abortion/drugs/LGBT/minority/immigration and lukewarm/false 2A support lose him the (L) vote.

One in the same, at least as far as current status and candidate go. The concept of full personal freedom is where the socially liberal/fiscally conservative statement diverges. SL/FC is more center than l(L)ibertarianism.
