Is anyone surprised that trump is trying to force himself on us after we have already said no?
“Allies to President Donald Trump are exploring the possibility of acquiring and investing in conservative outlet Newsmax to set up a competitor to the Fox News Channel, the Wall Street Journal reported”.
You guys opinion?
While I think that FOX “cut it’s teeth” on it’s opposition to President Obama, then began to roll in the real money with it’s support of Trump…it is still a diverse media conglomerate that can survive post-Trump.
I am wary (from a business standpoint) trying to build anything long-lasting based on a single individual. (Maybe they have more in mind than just “Trump News”? Who knows).
What do you guys think?
Much like President Obama recently said that many GOP lawmakers should “know better” (when it comes to these charges of mass voter fraud/Trump won the election/etc.)…
Kayleigh McEnany should “know better”…but I guess history is littered with smart people who should have “known better”…
I think from a financial standpoint it’s a good idea because we no longer have a shared version of reality in this country. People don’t like the fact that Fox is reporting some factual information about the election, so they’re moving on to hear what they want to hear, and so that it matches with what Trump is telling them. Cognitive dissonance sucks. When Trump is gone there will be plenty of other alternative facts to report.
What eventually needs to happen is people need to be held responsible for lying on a “news” program or an elected official using Twitter to spread misinformation. We know that free speech does not include the right to yell “fire” in crowded movie theater. I don’t see the difference between doing that and someone in office tweeting out lies that stir up chaos and violence. We are paying these people to do job, not to tweet out lies.
@dcb:
It’s almost “Star-Trekian” in it’s scope.
We have a Country that is now almost equally divided into two parallel Universes; each with it’s own reality and alternative facts.
It’s actually pretty scary…and why I think we will continue to be a divided Country.
I wish President Biden luck, because he will need it.
Reality or news doesn’t matter, just stories that confirm their opinions. How is it possible that fox viewers can get mad at Fox for reporting news events occurring in the real world? For saying “President-elect”? The readers are just outright saying (in different words) “How dare you put facts and reality above sustaining this narrative I thought we all here shared?”.
The closest analogy I can think of is being angry at ESPN for reporting a score that indicated your favorite team lost. “That’s it ESPN, only Yahoo Sports for me from here on out.”
Thanks for the business idea. I’m going to create an alternative facts sport network that reports all kinds of scores.
All they need to do is set up a free Wordpress blog for Trump to write whatever he wants without being censored. Much more cost-effective than acquiring a whole media outlet.
This is similar to what I was talking about in regard to holding people accountable for their words:
Twitter Removes Face Mask Tweet From Trump’s Covid-19 Coronavirus Advisor Scott Atlas
Scott Atlas told the people of Michigan to “rise up” against new restrictions put in place to curb the COVID outbreak. WTF. This is in a state in which several people were arrested for plotting to kidnap the Governor and hold some sort of kangaroo court trial, convict and kill her.
She has no soul.
Rupert Murdoch is very old and his heirs probably won’t run things the way he did.
It’s unfortunate that Covid targets everyone and not exclusively shitheads like this guy.
Fox needs a strong competitor. It’s dominating too much of the right-leaning market. The left leaning ones have less market share individually, but at least there’s competition so some are more centrist while others lean more left.
I think Fox will turn more centrist at least if they face good competition from a right leaning outlet.

It’s this kind of stuff and the content of the Bill Mahr segment above that essentially leave me with no options for political affiliation.
I’m with you, Brother…100%.
While I do not think that FOX is near “done” with riding the “Trump Train”; or that they will become left-leaning; do you guys think that they know that their drunken Trump Party is over? Or do they double-down and compete with the Newsmax’s of the World?
Cool. Now we just need about 50 million more.
One side looks at me like a necessary casualty to keep the wheels turning, or at best an annoying inconvenience, while loudly calling for its followers to do things which will actively cost lives.
The other sees me as the perpetrator of all things evil, while Nancy Pelosi holds millions of Americans in a financial strangle hold with poison pills.
I’d like to hear her reason for not passing the relief bill now. The election is over and Trumps name is still going to be on those checks. She did state very clearly she would not pass the new bill before the election. Well, election over. What does that decadent bitch have to say now?
This is true for the left media as well. They have had easy stories that got views because of Trump for the last 4 years.
Holy crap, this was brutal from Barry.
Trump, Obama noted, is not exactly an exemplar of traditional American manhood. “I think about the classic male hero in American culture when you and I were growing up: the John Waynes, the Gary Coopers, the Jimmy Stewarts, the Clint Eastwoods, for that matter. There was a code … the code of masculinity that I grew up with that harkens back to the ’30s and ’40s and before that. There’s a notion that a man is true to his word, that he takes responsibility, that he doesn’t complain, that he isn’t a bully—in fact he defends the vulnerable against bullies. And so even if you are someone who is annoyed by wokeness and political correctness and wants men to be men again and is tired about everyone complaining about the patriarchy, I thought that the model wouldn’t be Richie Rich—the complaining, lying, doesn’t-take-responsibility-for-anything type of figure.”
