US DVD's Working on UK Players

Ye I wanna buy some dvds from here but i was just thinking, wouldn’t they need a region change? any one from england brought DVDs from here and they have worked? thanks.

Region 2 ANSI encoding is what you are looking for.

You could get Dvd Decrypter(free program), rip the dvd’s, then burn them. This eliminates DVD region coding.

hmm thanks might do that.

Just google the name of your DVD player and “multi-region” and there’s probably a quick remote hack you can do. If it’s a really cheap £30 one from Tesco or something it’s probably already multi-region.

True.

It’s funny, in my experience the cheaper ones are usually the better ones.

The guy I used to work with at a TV repair shop had a good response when asked to fix a dvd player. People often used to come in and ask if the cheap ones at the supermarket were any good, and his response was “If it has ‘s h one t’ printed on the front, for £20 you cant go wrong”.

Now I remember why we never made any money…

The Philips ones all had hacks I seem to remember, sometimes with a special remote, as did many of the Panasonic ones.
