Uriah Faber?

Kid is pretty damn good, but him and Faber are 50/50. I would take Faber in that match all day long.

I’d go with Kid. Faber reminds me a lot of Wandi, in while his stand up is brutal, he leaves himself open a lot. Kid’s striking is a little cleaner and more controlled. That being said, I haven’t seen a lot of either fight, so I might just be talking out my ass(as usual).

wanderlei tears shit up with his hands.

i dont care what anyone says man. fighting shouldn’t look like a video game. if you can stay crisp and win matches, good for you, but im a fan of wanderlei because he throws the way his body was meant to throw. hes got that kyphotic posture, protruding neck, … i mean, i dont think hes ever throw a straight punch, all his shit is an off shoot of a hook.

kid knocked some mofos out with crisp punches but he brawls also. thats a given. he is brutal. he throws whatever will connect.

AHHHHHHH

so angry today

Uh I respect wandy’s passion but he’s not the most technical guy out there. and i’d be more impressed by the guy that makes it look easy than the guy that has to turn into the tasmanian devil. Still passion is no excuse for throwing technical ability to the wind.

that said both kid and faber tend to brawl sometimes but both have excellent technical abilities, and every athletic attribute in their favor.

I have NO IDEA who to pick in a match between the two.

while Kid might have better credentials, he seems to have faced tougher competition on the fact that they’re in a higher weight class.

but faber still has great credentials, and has faced tough competition as well, albeit at a legit weight class, and Kid has been “fed” some guys while faber has not (imo).

Perhaps the edge of experience goes to kid, but its not like faber hasn’t been through a war.

on top of that they both have very similar styles

way way way too close to call imo.

Yeah the wrestling background is also important to note. Wrestlers tend to be great at not getting Sub’d and they both have excellent wrestling skills. When I went to the Hitchcock-Azevedo Wrestling camp in like…2004 I think Faber was a wrestling coach there comming off either a NCAA win or placing in wrestling. He is just an awesome guy. Before he told us he Did MMA we figured he was hte least likely to kill us for asking dumb questions. He’s goofy and approachable and had no problems hanging out with a bunch of Highschool kids and sharing some wisdom. His no Vaccine policy and fruit based diet are pretty out there but you cannot argue with his conditioning.

I saw him do something ridiculouslike squat 250lbs on a balance beam which while debatabley useful is really cool to watch.

^^Fucking faber is a beast.

Believe.

Urijah Faber is a MONSTER. A guy from our gym moved out to Cali for a work term last semester and trained at Ultimate Fitness with Urijah. He taped one training session of them, and is just getting tooled (obviously) but apparently, as he told us, Urijah is “stronger than all get out, dude grabs a hold of your wrist and thats the end of it, hes got your wrist, period, better think of something quick, or hes taking everything between that wrist and that shoulder home with him”.

Faber is the real deal…I don’t see anyone contending with him for a while.

Did anyone see the preview show that featured Faber and Pulver on Versus, on Monday? I was out of town and forgot to record it.

The lighter weight guys are always more fun to watch imo because of the incredible pace that they fight at.

Faber being a prime example

if you like Uriah Faber another dude you should youtube is Kid Yamamoto. Imo he’s the only other person that is even competitive with Faber. [/quote]

What federation does Kid Yamamoto fight in?

I agree with you regarding Faber. He’s an incredible athlete.

Yeah, I saw it, good show. Both of those guys have some serious conditioning. I also believe that they’re replaying it tonight (Wednesday) at 9pm. At least they are here on the east coast.

I think it will be a close fight. Most people seem to think Faber will win easily, but Pulver looked pretty serious in that preview. He was very thoughtfull and he knows, people are writing him off as a has been. I think he is still fighting at a high level at 145 judging by that Cub Swanson fight and I think he will bring it all. Of course Faber is a beast and a prodigy and in the prime of his career. I look forward to this fight.

I think it’s going to be close as well. Most people think that Faber is going to run in and Wandi Pulver’s ass and I just don’t see that happening. Jens’ striking is a lot more polished than Faber’s, and if he can avoid getting caught initially or taken down, I think Jens has a serious shot at an upset.

Faber is a great guy to watch fight. Always brings it and his fights usually end in a KO or submission.

He’s fighting former UFC lightweight champ, Jens Pulver, next month in what is the WEC’s biggest show to date. Faber should win but I expect Jens to make it a competitive bout.

Was Jens’ last fight with Cub? Jens put a serious hurting on Cub who looked to be pretty unstoppable up to that point.

Jens subbed Cub pretty quick into the first. Anaconda choke, and a beauty.

Cub is tough as balls. I personally witnessed him whooping the living shit out of a local guy at a small show in Ohio. Looked like a really bloody sparring session for Cub. Like they needed to mop the mat afterwards bloody.
