Until the Wheels Fall Off

I’m no training genius or expert, but I surely have been spoiled from being on this forum.
I go to any other training forum and it’s like “Where did all these drooling idiots come from?”

You always throw in something that makes me think. Thanks.

What are you referring to there, Crippler?

Forearms are a mite pooped.
I have no idea what I’m doing.

Keep needing to look things up tonight. Axle Double Overhand Deadlift. Looked it up and watch a video of it. Is it the thickness of the bar taht makes it different than the normal deadlift? And those seated hamstring curls look great. On the rare occassion when I use the old laying on your belly leg curls I can barely get 80lbs.

Much harder just to hang on to the axle due to the thickness, particularly if you have small hands -as I do.

The seated hamstring curl machine gives you a big mechanical advantage. The hamstring crosses two joints, and having it under tension at the hip lets you pull hard at the knee. I can only do about 60-80lbs on the lying type myself. Really cranks on my low back so I avoid it.

The behind the back hold. I always like things like that.

Saw a video of Thor Bjornsson doing that one. Thought I’d try it.

Mateusz Kieliszkowski is out of the World’s Strongest Man competition due to injury.
If Brian Shaw doesn’t take a fifth title, he should be ashamed.
Mateusz was pretty much his only competition

I like and am rooting for Tom Stoltman now. He will easily best Shaw at the stones, which is one of Shaw’s strengths. And TS also got a lot stronger in his log pressing, based on what I’ve seen of his training videos (possibly better than the current version of Shaw now). At this stage in their careers, TS is also much more athletic than BS.

There is a possibility of it of course.
I don’t think Tom is quite as well-rounded as Shaw, but I could be wrong.
Shaw is coming having trained for it with no distractions such as he had last year. If his hamstrings cooperate, he’ll be tough to beat.

I’m just hoping it’s competitive and fun to watch. My main man Martins! is out, Thor is pursuing the Hall boxing match, Mateusz is out, those were the 3 best guys imo.

Are you “rooting” for anyone in particular?

Shaw for sure. I’d like to see him get that 5th title.
Or Luke Stoltman, just because he seems like a hell of nice guy.

Always been a fan of Shaw. Not just his lifting but always like his personality.

Here’s Tom Stoltman doing 1036lbs for a double

Deadlift used to be a weakness for Tom Stoltman. Looks like he’s addressed it.

I think it will be close, but youth and athleticism wins in the end.

If this was the Arnold, and not WSM, I would say Shaw had the edge.

I’m going to skip the grippers today and work pinch grip. I want to have another crack at that axle overhand deadlift. Need to work calves again too. I think I’d like to own a pair.
