I can tell from the 150 that it’s going to be a while before I can walk that 200 more than a few feet.
The fact you can hoist that 200 to your shoulder is plenty impressive imo.
I haven’t actually filled the 200 yet, though I’m planning to hit Home Depot today for the sand.
I’m not sure I can even pick the darned thing up, much less get it to my shoulder.
I’m looking forward to trying, though.
I haven’t done sandbag carries for months now and yesterday’s go at it has my mid-back and adductors all lit up.
I train outside my apartment. My neighbors all think I’m nuts, except for the lady upstairs who wants to send her son down to train with me.
My fully filled 150 lb sandbag is easier to pick up than its former partially filled state. But I had to work up to that weight. Doing same with my 200 presently. Certainly different from weightlifting.
That old left forearm flexor tear is feeling kind of dicey today. Gonna have to watch that.
Back is still achey and tight. Might have to move deadlifts to tomorrow. We’ll see how the warmups feel.
Ordered some grippers.
I seem to be de facto preparing for the gyms never to open again…

Upper body is blowing up. Shoulders upper back and Triceps feel really bloated. I got nearly no pump yesterday, so the body must be out of recover mode and moving into growth mode today.
200 lb Sandbag is filled.
I can barely move it. I can lap it, but I can’t stand up with it.
Yet.
Very excited.

Starting to get a little more difficult…
Youtube has some excellent clips on hoisting a sandbag. One guy there bearhugged a 400+ lb bag for over 100 feet. Thing was about size of a hot water heater.
My new grippers arrived yesterday. 2,3,4 intensities. These are not Captains of Crush, but they are similarly graded by difficulty, so progression is still possible.
#2 6 x 5 sec hold
#2 1 x 10 sec hold
I have a theory that supporting grip strength is just crush grip strength with a time element. Crush endurance, as it were.
I chuckled. You so crazy.
Funny how a 200 lb deadlift is a joke but a 200 lb sandbag will kick your ass. I’m still trying to shoulder mine.
You’ve inspired me to look into sandbags…
Thanks a lot.

Looks like my gym opened back up again - never got the notice. All the emails went to my spam folder.
They want their equipment back of course.
I hope we don’t have to wear masks.

Lifting in a neck gaiter is okay as long as I can run outside between sets to breathe.
Lord, I do sweat somebody else’s share besides, I’m sure.
I extended the range of motion on the RDLs down to the floor. Didn’t feel like much when I was doing them, but I’m very aware of my hamstrings today.
I’m going to include a light antagonist movement for legs each day and try to progress those for a little extra volume on legs.
