Ottawa looks ready to play some golf…
I really can’t stand watching them fail miserably at stopping Anaheim players from carrying in the puck.

Is Alfie facing suspension? Probably not. It’s too hard to definitively prove intent, but we all know what went down.
Nice to see Neds and McDonald lighting it up once again.
Giggy for Conn Smythe (#2).
BTW-I have tickets for game 5!
No I don’t. ![]()

Whether there was intent or not, he will be remembered for that one act more than anything else.
Just like people remembering Sundin throwing his stick in the stands years ago.
I’ve always liked Alfredson for his playing but not for his leadership.
8 minutes left and the Cup is on it’s way to California!!
HELL FREEZES OVER!!
The Ducks have brought the Stanley Cup to California in a totally lopsided last game!
That was incredibly painful to watch.
I wouldn’t mind the loss so much if it had of been a realistic game. Fluke goals, broken sticks, early 5 on 3 play, goal posts, quick return goals and basically just a horrible game all around.
Anyhow, I know the Ducks outplayed them most of the series, stopping the Sens from playing the game they are good at, and they certainly deserved to win the cup.
Enjoy it Anaheim fans!
Holy crap that’s cathartic. It’s like a reward for making a point of watching every game.
What a way to end it all.
I have to give props to my brother (and Cherry and Hull) for calling this back in the summer.
This is the first time a team I have followed has won (after following the Leafs for so long, and 4 consecutive Super Bowl losses for the Bills), so I’m going to savor it and post some pics from this season.

Great two goal effort by alfie. It was amazing watching the celebration.

I may be the only person still posting on this thread but I’d like to hear everyone’s reaction to Neds getting the TML trophy. I think he had an amazing series, but wasn’t all that great in the previous 3.
That’s one of the strengths of the team: they have so many star players that you can have one play sub par and another will step up.

I remember when my brother told me that he snapped this pic of Beauchemin. My reply was “Who the hell is that?”
Then Bob McKenzie labeled him as the most underrated player in the league.
I think everyone knows who he is now.

My vote for most underrated goes to Getzlaf, where’ed he come from?
Still hated to see them win though, shoulda been the wings.
I was suprised to see Ned get the Conn Smythe trophy. I thought it would go to Giguere. Congrats to him and the Ducks for bringing the cup to Calif. Finally everyone knows we play hockey here.

Much to everyone’s disappointment, this will likely be my last post in this thread. It was a fun ride but it’s getting time to move on.
I need to predict that if Neds returns, then the Ducks will repeat -even though Selanne is likely gone (he’s UFA anyway). I think they can do it without Giggy as well (another UFA), because Bryz is phenomenal. It comes down to whether money is more important to JSG than a cup.
All 3 big D are back for another 2-3 years (Barring retirement), and the rest of the team is around for at least another year.
This means that in addition to the official all-stars they had this year, they’ll have Getzlaf, Beauchemin, and possibly Pahlsson (among others with a good shot) going to the game.
6 all-stars should be enough to win the cup, which is why this year would have been a disappointment if they didn’t win with 7 (unofficially).
Lastly, I need to give credit to the checking line, who shut down every top line they faced -including the line that was 1-2-3 in playoff points. That’s just impressive.
Depth depth depth.
Fun thread and great discussion.
Cheers

Congratulations on cheering for a winning team. Im in Buffalo, so I’m pretty much stuck with great potential and horrific disappointment in every sport. ![]()
Here we go again.
And, I’ll take this opportunity to apologize to CT for inadvertently grossly misrepresenting the Habs season. I was very distracted and obviously they took the East. Speaking of which, how cool would a Montreal/Detroit final be?

There’s a new “official” NHL playoffs thread. I’ve predicted Habs/Wings in the finals…
