So it’s going to be Hasek against the Ducks? No problem. Ducks already took out 2 goalie-based teams.

Sure the Wings have a couple of other players, but tonight was all Hasek. Reminds me of the '98 Olympics (tear).

We should enact mandatory retirement at age 40, because no 42 year old should play that well at any position in any sport, let alone the one that requires the greatest quickness and agility.

Here’s a tribute to tonight’s game.[/quote]

That may be just a hair oversimplified there Bud. They did out shoot us and Dom did also pull us out of trouble a few times to be sure. In spite of that though I’d say quality chances were pretty even. Our penalty kill was also strong and not just in net as well as nuetral zone play.

On the subject of Hasek, that guy has got to to be the most stubborn, competitive bastard left in the league as well as the bargain basement story of the decade.

I don’t know if you knew, but he gave back 3 million of his contractual salary when he couldn’t finish the season last time he was with us. He told Ken Holland he wouldn’t take it. He also turned down more money from St. Louis that year to come here because he wanted to win.

We got him back this year for 750 grand because nobody else wanted him with a 1.1 million bonus for reaching the cup finals though I have no doubt his will to win is much more motivation than the money. He makes 150 grand less than Osgood and plays like a 10 million dollar contract is on the line.

He trains like a teenager and has incredible balance and coordination. I’ve seen footage of him jumping back and forth between legs on a swiss ball without falling off.

I’m with Laurie. Can’t wait til game 2, but I have no illusions. There is still plenty of hockey left to play.

I don;t know why you guys are even discussing this. Clearly who ever makes it from that series is going to lose to Ottawa. Its all a formality now. hahahahhaha

Seriously though, that was an awesome game last night and Hasek played amazing. It is nice to see an athlete playing to win rather than playing for money. Even though i hate him for screwing over Ottawa last year…bastard!

You sound pretty confident Ottawa’s going to get past the Sabres. Winning one game doesn’t win the series. :stuck_out_tongue:

I am confident. Should be a good game regardless of the Outcome of tonights game. The Sabres should come out a little better. They couldn’t be much worse than in the first game I suppose. I predict a one goal game either way tonight.

He got hurt and Ottawa fired him. Even Don Cherry said at the time what a mistake it was for the Senators to let him go. He replayed himself the other night saying it. Can you imagine how sweet it would be to beat them for the Cup now? You better hope Anaheim advances because if he winds up against the Sens in the finals we might as well brick over the front of net.

Yah, I am familiar with what happened. I am still just bitter that he went over and played overseas and got injured for the year.

Although to be honest, I don’t think it was a mistake. I think it has allowed Emery to flourish this year. The mistake was signing that bum Gerber to a three year deal. yeesh! Hopefully we can dump him off and get something decent in return.

And having a #1 goalie such as Gerber might have elevated Emery’s game.

If the Sens win the cup this year, then it really doesn’t matter if Gerber plays or not but having him there may have just created the right atmosphere for the Sens to advance beyond the 2nd round.

It also seems that wherever Gerber goes, they win the cup. That’s what I read anyway.

I expect to see a more organized attack from Buffalo tonight, but I have to be honest. I have a tough time envisioning Ottawa on the golf course after their series. They’ve got the eye of the tiger this year. Obviously I could be wrong, but you can just “feel” the Sens ambition coming through the TV.

I’m not sure we’re going to see Ottawa do much this evening… already had the disallowed goal against them and then a real goal against them.

However, maybe this will wake them up?

I don’t know if Ottawa left that ambition at the hotel or if Buffalo discovered Spike shooters or a bit o both.

EDIT: Everybody really should know better by now. Saw that play comin. Alfredsson ties it.

This period eerily reminded me of the 1st of game 2 of the Wings/Sharks series with the Sens being the Wings and the Sabres being the Sharks. If Ottawa finishes taking over in the second I’ll start hearing the Twilight Zone theme.

Fischer ties it.

Yep, it’s a brand new game now… hopefully, from my point of view, Buffalo has spent their wad at the start of the game!

Ottawa takes the lead off of Redden’s goal, 5 on 3 power play

edit: Buff pays the price for 2 crap calls

hearing Twilight Zone music yet?

DOO DOO DOO DOO,

This is the difference with the senators this year. If they had of gone down by 2 last year or a couple years ago the game would have been over, but now it is 3-2 Ottawa and they carried the play for most of the second. Should be a pretty exciting third period

That’s Ottawa this year. Doesn’t matter if they have a bad period, they will bounce back and take control. How many shots did Buffalo get this period?

Years ago I would have believed that the game was over after the 1rst but not this year. Ottawa has true Grit now!

5 shots for buffalo during the second period. thats more like it!

i think Buffalo’s shots on goal were under 5 for that period.

i likey me some danny

that was brutal. The guy comes in and pile drives the Ottawa player from behind. no penalty and then Buffalo scores. I am bitter. Oh well, I guess Ottawa has to win in overtime now.
