Just wanted to report in that I’ve got some excellent pec soreness today, like for the first time in the few short years doing these floor presses with the exception of my first few times.
So that volume of 3-sets of 25 about shoulder width grip hit the spot!
Most likely not doing anything today, maybe some TUT squats BW and holding the hammer bars for a quick 20, maybe, but nothing to log about.
Squats holding hammer bars standing on two plates-
44+bars x20
54+bars x20 (approx 130#)
Nothing hard but felt real good! Actually it is hard to work on depth here, if you looking for every rep as low as possible m, well that’s fricking hard. I did a mix of TUT and depth reps.
Back in the lab. Messed around with a new version of heavy plate RDL. See the stack of plates is getting tough to balance, so I tried stacking two 100’s and lifting them with the lock collar, and that is going to be a grip challenge. I might need to try 100#plate, lock collar, 100# plate, lock collar, maybe tomorrow.
We will call this 200# plate RDLs-
200# x15
225 x5 with shrug each rep, regripping ea. rep.
Bent over laterals-
25# +hanldes x6
35# +handles x6
Somewhat heavy, I noticed I feel alot better at night tonight with less volume and heavier, than last night with the high volume.
The greatest clip in a movie EVER!!!
At 0:18 Scott Norton, 0:46 Cleave Dean, 2:31 Dave Patton (I think, or the dude in the strip shirt). 2:44 John Brzenk, 3:23 Not sure, but I know I saw him in a MILO issue arm-wrestling.
Good news from the lab, heavy plate RDLs experiment with 100plate, collar, 100plate, collar, gripping the 2nd plate is a success, by gripping the 2nd plate balanced things out.
Thanks for sharing the lab experiments and their results. I may never do any those lifts the way you have, but those are still helpful lessons for when I do my own things.
Hammer bar standing tricep extension-
44+bar x15
54+bar x15
Bread
Squats holding hammer bars standing on two plates-
44+bars x12
74+bars x15 shrug each rep.(approx 170)
These squats turning out be golden, I really feel them the next day ever so slightly throughout most of the body. I also touch the floor each rep, I’m thinking about trying 3-plates to stand on.
That’s all I did as I got a late start. Not bad for a Jonnie Walker Double Black hangover and only eating a banana, 2-eggs and slice of bread all day.
I’m new to Scotch but am used to Bourbon hangovers. Is Scotch is different type of hangover? It hit me hard today. But I loved the black label better than Bourbon.
Halt DeadLift conventional to knees-
Started off using a Blue RHINO band on each foot to make the warmups harder. It made them harder, however when I took the bands off at 370, it wasn’t easier, in fact it feel oddly harder, not sure why, I was doing so well…
220 +bands xfew
270 +bands xfew
320 +bands xfew
370 x1
410 x1
Honey
430 x1
Honey
450 x1 100% max effort, right glute is shot.
everything after the bands felt harder than expected, oh well, I need more, more work on the posterior chain, more heavy plate RDLS, more heavy plate BORs, 600 on the loading pin dead lift, maybe now start doing reps in the low 400’s.
