Good week of training so far.
Highlight was probably only a 220kg box squat light touch.
Rest of training has been good solid work. Can’t all be PRs.
Agility and power lower today
Some jumps, T sprints and hamstring type work.

‘strength’ baseline testing at acad.

1 min max pushups = 73
(Chest to a fist on the ground)

Max chin ups, dead hang W pause = 22

1 min row max distance = 313m

Plank = 3 min time cap completed

I set the class standard for chins and pushups, to be honest I was a tad disappointed I didn’t get more pushups, but I also did a trial on Thursday so recover was a factor, same with chins but it is what it is.
Academy records are 110 for pushups and 34 for chins, so I want to break that.

The row record is something like 380m so that’s impossible lol

What does the diet look like these days?

At the moment bird I’m probably eating 85-90% meat/veg/rice
Although my output is increasing so I’m okay with getting carbs from pretty much anywhere.
If it had a face or grew in/on/above ground then I’ll eat it

Happy to see you like the academy, you’re not going to regret this journey.

Dunno what’s going on but I’m 83kg consistently now with abs. Happy days.

Interval pyramids this morning. 1/1,2/2,3/3,4/4 of hard/easy minutes running which was deceptively brutal.

Academy fitness was a running and bodyweight circuit. 500m run then 10 burpee, pushup, squat, sit up, 400m run 8, 300 & 6, 200 & 4, 100 & 2.
I was middle of pack after first run and clearly in front by the end of it. My motor might not be the quickest but I live in the pain cave

How often do you guys do PT?

At my first academy (State agency), we had PT at 0530 Tues-Thurs and after dinner Mon-Thurs. That trailed off as we got busier.

My second academy was a joke. We had less than one hour of PT per week.

It varies, our PT sessions also double as out tactical ops sessions. So sometimes we have 4x per week, sometimes only 2. But one is always a dedicated PT session, while the tac ops ones have a 20min cardio and bodyweight warm up

How’s everything going ?

Hey brother!

Life is really busy but really good!

Academy is going great, had my first one on one feedback session with my sergeants/mentors and it was overwhelmingly positive about my maturity and ability to lead from the back and front. I’m one of the older recruits so I’m making sure not to dominate and give the youngsters the opportunities to speak up.

Physical training is kicking ass.
I’m three full weeks into Defrancos built like a badass with some additional cardio days and also a lower body power focus day. I think the HIIB stuff was awesome and fun, but some days I’m getting like 3 total sessions in so I’ve curbed the volume in my planned sessions to accomodate.

I have for sure made the right call. I feel at home in the uniform and everyone from cadets to senior sergeants and inspectors are happy to give me the time of day and discuss the life and what it takes to succeed.

I still think I want to get into special tactics, but maybe also water operations. Both are the two most physically demanding but I think I’m up to it.

Also and probably most excitingly, I’ve put a deposit down on an engagement ring so with a little planning and the right answer, I should be engaged before the new year

Yeah, maybe, you know.

I imagine you’d get through special forces selection and at the end ask if you could do it again because you liked it.

I do enjoy the suffering haha

Hey. New on here and I had a quick question. I saw from earlier posts that you were a vegetarian for a time and wondered how that affected strength and size gains and why you decided to stop.

That’s awesome news on all accounts! Glad you’re happy with your new career and excited for the follow up on the engagement. She bought you training programs as a gift. That sounds like a keeper to me.

I never had any negative effects whatsoever, I just missed the taste of meat.

I was pretty smart with my eating and covered my bases as a Vegetarian but essentially if you eat enough to support your training you’ll be fine.

A bit of soy won’t ruin your testosterone
You won’t get weaker or anything, and if you do then you’ve fucked it up and aren’t eating a mix of foods

Don’t be afraid of it, nothing wrong with eating for veg
