The amount of people who are demoralised enough to stop training during this shut down Spurs me on so much. Motherfuckers you’ve got LEGS and ARMS! How out of proportion do you think you’re going to get only doing pushups, sit ups, squats and runs for the next month or three? Like Jesus. How quickly do you make gains?
If anything, I find myself getting introduced to new things, because I have to be creative in a way I didn’t need to before and try a bunch of new stuff. Will be better for it in the long run.
Absolutely! Necessity is the mother of all invention right?
Wait, wait, wait. You’re saying people only work out when they have fancy implements? It’s strange how people only want to get out of their comfort zone when it’s comfortable.
During my first police academy, we mostly did push ups and ran. I’d hit the gym to lift on weekends but it was just to make me feel good. It was week 16 before they gave us permission to leave our rooms and go to the gym (or anywhere else).
My upper body blew up fast after returning to the gym. The push ups did plenty for me and my body bounced back quickly.
That doesn’t happen when you sit on your arse.
Switching to training from home with limited equipment 3 years ago was the best thing that has happened to me in training. Makes you train so much smarter.
I’m actually really enjoying my sessions. I’m not missing anything by not having cables. I should keep this up but I’m easily distracted.
Cables would be lovely, When I move house!
I found the limited weights and bigger weight jumps has forced me into doing 2 things that are massive when training purely for hypertrophy/physique.
Firstly its pushed many of my lifts into higher rep ranges, either due to not having a heavier weight or the next available weight being to big a jump. I cant be tempted by hitting some heavy triples or a few sets of 5.
Secondly its forced me to find ways to make lifts harder and getting more tension, slower eccentrics, pauses, playing with resistance curves, muscle lengths, form tweaks for better isolation and so on.
I would kill for a heavy barbell but it’s not going to happen at the moment…they seem to be sold out everywhere haha
Shame you don’t line next door to @I_Luc ![]()
Haha, yep, I’m glad I’ve invested in a decent setup over the years. 1 good barbell, 1 shitty one for rows etc, SSB, Swiss bar etc ![]()
Maybe i could sell high, and buy again once this drama blows over ![]()
Now that would not be a silly idea. M coach had a load of standard (not Olympic) plates and a bar and dumbells and sold them all. He still has a great home set up by now he is $1000 richer and will buy equipment next year when all the prices come down.
That’s actually a good idea, haha.
Did some shoulders today
3 sets band pulls
3 sets btn press
3 sets lateral raise drop sets
Arms superset 3x
Diamond pushups
Pinwheel curls
Good pump.
Chest/back
Big pt session at academy today. Lots of running and pushups and squats and sit ups.
Quick shoulders and arms tonight.
How’s everything at the academy going mate?
We’ve had to re-jig some stuff due to covid 19. We’re trying for the most part to follow all the social distancing rules that we can, exemption aside, because hell if the general public have to follow those we might as well too. Obviously gym closed which sucks, so more running and more theory. Got to use the virtual training room a bit more which is excellent.
Almost there now lads, four and a bit weeks I think. Can not bloody wait
How’s iso life and the little ones? Are they getting a bit stir crazy yet?
They aren’t but I am. I am home schooling them 3 days a week and then go to work and do an arvo shift, then come home and train !!!
We live in a really quiet court. So They still get to play out in the street and run around and because there are three of them and the ages are close, they can all play the same games. They are missing their friends but face time or a door knock and wave from the end of the drive when we go for a walk helps.
One daughter does karate and has been able to keep training using online video classes. The other two do gymnastics so they can still do some basic training at home but they miss their coach and the gym.
It’s really not that bad but I will be happy when it goes back to normal.
