45 y/o male. 5’10" 165 pounds 5 years ago i was diagnosed with parsonage Turner syndrome. Basically your brachial plexus nerve bundle stops sending signals to your muscles. In my case my left trapezius completely atrophied, i lost 30% of my left pectoral, the majority of my left sternocleidomastoid, and loss of partial left deltoid mass. Finally my disease has run its course and my nerves are again sending signals and my muscle is regenerating. I’ve been doing minimal upper body for the past month and now i have a small “knot” of a sterno muscle finally. Since my left side has been compromised, ive had to see a sports med doctor for damage to my right rotator cuff.
My question: since I am now regaining muscle, would steroid use help me regain the muscle loss faster? My neuro-muscle doc wants me to just continue physical therapy. I’m a dialysis nurse so i work with my hands at chest level all day and i must carry 30 pound jugs. I’ve done the rotator cuff exercises and now have been released from the sports med doc. Neither one wanted to discuss steroid use as a treatment option. From their attitude i didnt think they were basing their response on medical theory, but instead on their own negative opinions of steroid use.
I’ve increased protein to 80mg daily. I am leaning towards test cyp 250 once weekly x 12 weeks. And possibly deca 250 x 10 weeks. Any thoughts for or against 1. Will steroids help me rebuild this muscle faster? 2 suggestions for what to use?
get yourself healthy before even considering it. If you jump on a cycle now your muscles’ll develop disproportionately. You could end up busting a tendon and then where will you be?
Also, at your age a cycle could very easily put you on TRT for life! Particularly if you use deca.
Something mild like anavar might be an option, but really, this is one of those times when your doctors are in a far better position to give quality advice than a bunch of meatheads on an internet forum.

x2
Check with your DR and tell him you are going to do it and would like his guidance. Sorry to hear about people and their buy in to media opinion on AAS. I personally think this is why they were made.
You know, i honestly didnt even consider the disproportion possibility. I’ve spoken with both doctors and neither will even consider the possibility that aas would help with my muscle redevelopment. All they say is continue with pt and you will regain full use in 3-5 years. I need to do more research. There has to be a way to speed up the development of only certain muscle groups. Why could you not do anavar and only exercise the needed muscles to “catch up” or match the opposite side of your body?
