all i know is as of now I carry my firearm legally
I have used it once in self defense again legally
i they choose to have a gun control ban,I will no longer be a law biding citizen.
its that simple and i am not the only one that thinks this way.
so ou can either THINK you are disarming us,or you can have alot of people out there with no respect for the laws taking advantage of the black market and taking advantage of people that do respect the law.
a gun ban is disarming the good people but you think a person (like myself) will give up weapons.
no we will lie in order to keep our weapons to protect whats important to us.
ourself and families.
hell now that I think of it my pistol was stolen yesterday.
try and call me a lier.
I promise you wont find it unless you force your way into my home and search it
at that point I have no respect for anyone or the safety of anyone but myself.
so have fun with your little gun control ban crap,it will prove ineffective.

He was planning on doing a massacre for SIX YEARS! For someone who is so crazy that he would spend that much time planning the attack the choice of weapon was a minor detail. He would have found a way to pull it off. If you were not so fanatical in your outlook you would see that.

Is anyone else tempted just to go get a gun right now and kill a dozen people to prove a point that you shouldn’t be able to get guns so easily?
Oh Wait! I can’t do that. Lucky for those dozen people I might add because I’m crazy enough!
Don’t let the lack of a gun hold you back homeboy. There are lots of things you can substitute that will be much more deadly. If you don’t know how to combine readily available ammonium nitrate fertilizer and diesal fuel to make high explosives do a web search there are recipes out there.
Or how about a PVC flamethrower there are instructions for those all over the net also…
I will be watching the news to see if you are for real or if you are all talk. Personally I think you are a pussy who doesn’t have the balls to do it. But we will see.

like it wouldn’t be easy as hell to kill 12 people with a knife before the police get you?
Maybe for you tough guy. I think most people would struggle. Haven’t heard of many knife massacres. By the way, I’m disturbed that you can buy knives over here that serve no purpose other than as a weapon.
I’ll accept that if everyone is carrying a gun then a massacre such as this may be stopped earlier. However, can anyone imagine the consequences of this?
Guns being at the ready every time someone gets pissed off, depressed or on drugs. Shoot outs in public places. More crazy Texans shooting at people committing property crimes and getting away with murder. More street justice.
Rainjack, I’m not telling you what you (as in the USA) should do(I will tell you you should grow up and shut up). The debate is about whether gun control is preferable and people have to use examples to back up there arguments so the USA will be mentioned.
If you don’t like it then call me a pussy and pull out your latin phrase book.
don’t kid yourself. You could throw a 6’ tall 110 pound beanpole with a knife on any busy street in a big city during rush hour and there would be a bloodbath.
There aren’t knife massacres because if someone really wants to cause damage to a lot of people, guns work better. And if you look hard enough they will find one, ban or no.
The argument that guns are a protection against tyranny is also a joke. You’d get your arses kicked by your government regardless of how many guns you have.

Its spelt ‘pussy’.
We are macho. My argument is macho men don’t require firearms.
We know you are.
For those of us who are not macho men or ladies however there is no substitute for firearms. Certainly not if we are attacked by someone who is armed.
Your Bill of Rights is just that - a supreme law for you to rely on to control your government. I put to you that you should rethink those rights.
Tell us more.
In Australia we do not have a Bill of Rights. Our Constiution is rather brief and does not even afford me the right in law to vote!
Yet you feel this is something to brag about. By the way the word is spelled constitution.
We aren’t used to our ‘Rights’ being infringed on by our government however.
Now we get to the heart of the matter. Because it has been many years since Australians have had their rights brutally abused by their government you all just assume it could not happen again.
Considering your countries history and the history of your neighbors that is a very optimistic assumption that demonstrates an infantile naivete.

Thankyou for proving that you are the biggest hypocrite on this site rainjack.
You are right PR, people can get hold of guns illegally but why make it easier for them.
Obviously you are totally clueless as to just how easy it is to get them illegally. Gun control laws are no hindrance to criminals. But they make it impossible for the rest of us to defend ourselves.
Or to look at it another way. Gun control makes it much easier for criminals who get ahold of guns to go out and use them. Because the law makes it safe for them by disarming their victims.
It comes down to a balancing act, which approach is likely to lead to the least deaths?
It is astounding how blind you are to the consequences of your ideology. Gun control severely affects the balance of power so that criminals have all the power and the law abiding have none.
Australia and Texas do not have similar populations at all. Australia does not have millions of angry negroes who are killing one another at a high rate. Nor does it have Mexican drug smugglers running vast amounts of drugs across it.
When ever these discussions come up people like you throw out statistics with complete disregard to the internal societal factors that are driving the violence and just focus on guns.
The city of Plano Texas by the way has a murder rate of 1 per 100,000 which is comparable to Australia and New Zealands murder rate. Honolulu has a murder rate of 1 per 100,000

Please.
NZ’s gun laws are the equivalent of a polished turd (and poorly polished at that). The police can’t even fire tasers at criminals. There was a HUGE fuss about a cop who shot some nutjob high on P who was rushing at him with a hammer in hand.
There was another big racket about a shop owner who shot a man in the stomach after said man charged the counter WITH A MACHETE.
I’d much rather live in a country where the law abiding can defend themselves.
Guns aren’t illegal to begin with. They start of being legally owned then fall into the black market. Less legal guns means less guns filtering through to the black market.
The gun buyback in Australia decreased homicides. No crazy crims running around here shooting everyone.

But wait, it only happened because there weren’t enough people with guns to stop him earlier.
If this is a sarcastic remark it misses the mark. Guns will be accessible to anyone who wants them, regardless of laws. Somebody planning a massacre with the audacity to carry it through certainly doesn’t stop at the illegality of purchasing a restricted weapon.
And if school officials were trained and carrying, yes, this and any massacre could be minimized.
I would fucking struggle to buy a gun over here. Anyway, perhaps the massacarists (not sure if that’s a word) wouldn’t be so tempted if the availability of guns wasn’t so obvious. A bit like showing kiddy porn to a paedophile.
I would imagine you are not involved in crime. It would be hard to get cocaine here, unless you knew where to go.

Or did Charlton Heston tell you otherwise?
So punish the innocent to restrict the criminals? That sounds backwards to me mate.

Everybody, stop arguing with this guy. This statement right here makes it quite obvious he’s a fucking moron. This is EXACTLY what some of the colonists said when the Sons of Liberty decided to start a war at Lexington and Conchord.

Just quietly, it’s not the 18th century anymore.
This matters… because?
The overwhelming force of the British army is about equal to the overwhelming might of the American army, should a good portion of it revolt WITH the revolutionaries.
AndyG wrote:

That is a ridiculous rationalisation. Just because they have the upper hand in some regards, it does not follow that we should just give up and give them an even greater upper hand. The founding fathers certainly did not see it that way.
Besides there are over three hundred million people in the country vs the army which has 500,000. Even if the whole army stayed loyal they would be out numbered 600 to 1. That is not good odds. Especially when you consider that a good number of the civilians are veterans and are well armed.
The government could not just kick our asses if it wanted to because it is out-numbered and out-gunned.

There was some rather unfair things in the Oz Constitution about aborigines but we held a referendum and had it removed.
Constitutions need to change over time (very long periods but still they must change).
Constitutions do not need to change if they are well designed from the outset. The American founding fathers really got it right so there have been very few changes. Some aspects of freedom and government tyranny have not changed over thousands of years.

That’s insane. People actually have a problem with a shop owner defending himself from a machete wielding lunatic? The machete wielding lunatic’s life is more precious than the shop owners.
Wow.
You need to get out of there my friend, those people are fucking crazy.
Our Texas Prison system kills prisoners sentenced to death at a rate probably 50 times that of australia. In fact, we like killing so much, we put in an express lane at the prisons. Texas loves killing. You might say it is a hobby for most of us.
Why don’t you come visit? We are running out of shit to shoot at.
Actually it’s much higher than 50 times. Aus doesn’t have the death penalty. Interesting thing to be so proud of.
You should work for the Texas tourist board. That’s a great slogan:
Visit texas! We are running out of shit to shoot at!
He is a Texan. There are 49 other states they are not like Texas.
