Ultimate Nutrition Iso Mass Xtreme Gainer?

I’ve been using this to get some extra calories, generally 1 serving a day after workouts. What do people think of it? The price is great for the number of servings, but nutritionally is there anything I should be concerned about?

Doesn’t strike me as something good for PWO as it has a fair amount of fat in it.

Plus all that NO crap is just jacking up the price.

Good point, arginine leading to NO being is pretty much BS, and the extra glutamine is probably unnecessary.

7g fat doesn’t strike me as that much, if I remember right you should aim for <10g for meals not specifically including it.

That said, the price is pretty good for a mass gainer- 30 servings for about $60, I buy it with a GNC gold card making it $48, then BOGO half off. So in the end the price isn’t all that bad.

My mistake, I didn’t notice it was only 7g of fat. But also, in terms of PWO, the fiber doesn’t help much. If it’s something you like and is within your price range then stick to it. I’d recommend reading up on peri workout nutrition though, which can be found here: Forums - T Nation - The World's Trusted Community for Elite Fitness

Will do.

What about as a carb+protein meal at some other point in the day?

garbage, eat 2lbs of lean meat everyday.

It’s a kitchen sink formula which is a great way to make something sound “cutting edge” without actually being useful or worthwhile. The “vita mass” is pointless - a gratuitous cover-all just to say it contains vitamins and minerals, the “crea mass” is a conglomerate of every form of creatine known to man (Geez, great idea), the glutamine and NO formulas are useless as explained before, the BCAA formula is a fucking joke at 550mg. Need I go on?

Two bottles of Metabolic Drive Complete would be 30 servings for $44 (three bottles would be 45 servings for $66), there’s free shipping in the US, and it provides a comparable macro breakdown, with higher quality protein sources than Iso Mass, when mixed in milk.

Not to mention you wouldn’t be forced to take 10 different specialized “mass formulas” that sound uber-fancy but contribute piss-all to an actually effective mass-building supplement.

The Iso Mass would technically be better than nothing, but for reasons stated, it would definitely not be a first choice.

Great insights Chris, that’s exactly what I was looking for.

I was impressed to see Micellar Casein in the “Iso Mass” part, but you’re right with the whole ‘kitchen sink’ strategy they’ve got going on
