Nog’s looked the same old Nog, great boxing and was absolutely schooling Heath until he got caught by that monster kick. Nog somehow survived thanks to Heath’s incredible ability to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. If Mirko wins, Cro Cop/Nog is likely so that should be a great fight to see.
Anderson Silva is a damn stud. I will probably be the only guy in Cinncinnati rooting for him to rearrange Franklin’s face again this fall.

I think Nog did not look sharp. I know his boxing is only on the better side of ok, but he looked pretty slow. And the way he got caught by the kick was not too sharp. I just hope he isn’t past his best. Heath’s inability to finish was astounding.
I actually enjoyed the Sherk fight. His dominance was impressive. Will be interesting to see him against Penn.
On a sour note, that was the worst crowd ever. They fucking booed everything. I had to put the volume down sometimes.

Yes it was! Bunch of morons.
I considered buying tickets and going up to Sac to see the fight but I glad I didn’t, a bunch of drunken retards booing all around me booing good fights would have really pissed me off.

This card sucked. Im glad I saw it for free. Why pay for an overmatched Herring to lose AGAIN to Noguera, Sherk to dominate in a boring fight (he is a beast though and showed what UFC fighters could be like if they trained as seriously as other athletes),
over the hill tito vs the winner of a reality show, and Silva to walk through another opponent? No exciting fights on the evening. The Silva, Sherk, and Noguera fights were showcases at best, not supposed to be competitive[/quote]
A typical “TUF fan.”
It’s like you guys read from the same script: “I don’t know anything about MMA and I want to be constantly entertained with atomic elbow drops or I’ll boo.”

Even though Sacramento is in California, the people who live there have way more in common with those in the deep south who live in trailers. Horrible crowd. I was watching the clock. If there was “inactivity” for as little as 10 seconds, the boos started.
I don’t know how anyone can say that this card sucked. It was an amazing card with amazing fights top to bottom. Nog did not look good, he came in to heavy. Sherk put on a show, Tito gassed against Evans, Silva dominated the top contender in the UFC 185.
when Heath jumped up i was wondering what the hell he was doing, he looked like his reaction was “oh crap, what did i just do…”. I really really hope it was due to him being afraid of being submitted somehow.
But it really looked like he didn’t want to ruin Nogs entrance to the UFC, or maybe he wanted to fight for more than 1 round to show what he can do? I don’t know…but i do know he seemed to be missing the killer instinct last night.
Shark is…well i don’t know how to say it even, he could have gone all night.
The spider belongs as the champ, he looks like Mr. Fantastic and has arms that can stretch lol

That guy Silva fought, Nathan Marquardt, is a very good fighter. If you are a Rich Franklin fan(I don’t know if you are or not), but Nathan is as good or better than Rich.
Why do guys hate on the fighters from TUF? Many of them have proven time and time again they can keep up with the best of them. Rashad Evans has become more than just some reality show star. Same with many others. The hypocritical part is you guys probably wouldn’t show any hate had these guys not gone through TUF and ended up in UFC anyways.

No, Nogueira won because he’s a champion. Champions are able to escape near-defeats. If Herring had gone in for the kill, Nogueira would likely have figured out a way to win. We’d be having a variation of this conversation: “When Herring went to hit Nog, he fell right into Nogueira’s guard. What a can!”
We should look at what Nogueira did to win rather than what Herring did to lose. Nogueira immediately did a butt scoot. As shown against Fedor, his butt scott is not invincible, but look at the sick subs he can pull of when a fighter tries to ground and pound him?
Champions find a way to escape bad situations. Look at the champion-of-champions:
Fedor Emelianenko:
is caught in suplex that would have killed most - remembers to tuck chin and fall properly and ends fight via submission;
is caught in Americana by guy outweighing him by 75 or so pounds on top of him - escapes and gets submission;
is caught with punch that would have knocked out most - has enough wits about him to clinch to recover and win fight via submission.
A lesser fighter would have lost at least one of those fights. But true champions always find a way to turn things around.
Nogueira, though not of the caliber of Emelianenko, is of the same kind.

The booing last night and the “fans” who expect UFC to be a Van Damme movie with head kick KOs every fight make me wonder if its popularity has already peaked.
The people who boo good fights are the same type who cheer for Randy Moss and squat in the Smith machine–they’re the ones who make up ‘the masses,’ and I for one like to keep them out of things I like.

I don’t think people generally hate the fighters, it’s more MMA fans hate “TUF” only fans. There are too many people who figure that the fighters on TUF are the best out there (except for the coaches who must be Gods).
Rashad is very good, but he fought to a draw with Tito and it was a draw because Tito was stupid and grabbed the cage a second time. So although Rashad is good, he still has a ways to go before he should be a favorite to beat the likes of Rampage, Dan Henderson, Chuck L. or Shogun.

I agree with you about the crowd. I couldn’t believe they were booing. A bunch of whiners!

Yeah, Marquardt is a 7x “King of Pancrase”, and is the only man to ever do that. Just to give you some perspective, Bas Rutten only managed to be King of Pancrase 3x.
I honestly don’t see anyone in the UFC’s current middleweight division dethroning Silva.
This came up on another MMA forum, but how many guys do you think Silva could take out in “Time Attack Mode”? Just line up the UFC’s 185 roster, start the 5x5 minute timer, and watch the meat fly.

There is a fair bit of hype around Filho, but his problem is he has absolutely no stand up. There are some good fights out there, but the only person I see beating Silva at the moment is Dan Henderson, if he goes back to MW.
Rich Franklin must be shitting his pants after seeing that.
