I don’t really know what Okami was doing for the first 2 rounds.

Okami’s recent success has been built on fighting conservatively until the other guy makes a mistake and then pouncing on him. He just happened to run into a guy who had figured that out and based his entire gameplan on picking him apart and not taking any chances.

The end result was a snoozer of a fight, but that is what happens when a cautious fighter runs into a guy with an even more cautious gameplan.
Well hopefully he will learn from this mistake because I think he’s very talented fighter.

The funny thing is I think Okami had a definite shot to win that fight and he may be kicking himself off of that third round. I think he may have overrated Franklin a bit and was a little too afraid to engage him in setups for a takedown (just imagine if he had gotten that kimura in the first round before Franklin was all sweaty._

Don’t suppose anyone knows the entrance music for the fighters? I know forrests, singers and really am trying to block out hermans Phil collins (shudder). Specifically Rameriez and clay guido if possible - thanks!!

I didn’t know Rich Franklin had such great taste - he comes out to AC/DC’s “For Those About to Rock (We Salute You)”

I’m happy to say that I was wrong in my earlier post - the card turned out to be pretty good. Loved Herman’s and Guida’s fights.

I also thought Guida should have won that match - I doubt it would have really effected his standings in the LW division.

Another boring Okami fight - at least he lost this one. Rich didn’t look too great either, it must be said, but I take a perverse delight in the fact that Okami probably would have won that fight if he had of actually gotten aggressive a round or two earlier.

RagingBull - Phil Collins fan

I think Guida’s entrance music was by the Alkaline Trio, but I’m not sure what the song was called.

Not a bad afternoon of fights though, combined with a cookout/pool party at a training partner’s house made for a pretty fun day.

Biggest pops were for Forrest Griffin - a likeable guy - also it seemed only Hector Rameriez had the good grace not to call himself Irish lol.
Yes it was a bit daft the way everyone was suddenly claiming they were Irish.

The worst culprit was perhaps Marcus Davis. A man claiming to be Irish yet so obviously out of touch with Irish culture…the nick name of the “Irish Hand Grenade” and a man who went on to claim “my parents raised me on a potato farm.” Cringe.

I disagree with the comment about Forrest not being aggressive. He was the aggressor throughout the entire fight! Every 15 seconds he’d attack with a 3-5 hit combo before moving out of Hector’s range. Hector never initiated an exchange. It was all Forrest.

Were you hoping they would just stand toe to toe and exchange haymakers?

He had plenty of chances to finish that fight. By the end Ramirez’ legs could barely keep him up. He seemed like he was begging to be knocked out.

It was pretty exciting, but it reminded me of the Sylvia/Monson fight or Werdum/Arlovski. Not as bad as either example of course.

It was a surprisingly very good pay-per-view!

What was Forrest babbling about in the end about him injuring himself while training?
