U2 One of the Greatest Rock Bands?

I think the Clash are horribly overrated, but anyway, I’d throw in
AC/DC and Metallica.
Have to agree about the Clash. I just don’t get it. What did they have, like 1 or 2 good songs?

I may get my ass kicked - but I hate “The Clash”.

I saw the Clash warm up for the Who about 1981 and they sucked.
When they sang, “should I stay or should I go” 50,000 people yelled back “GO”.

I’m trying to figure out why some of you enjoy the Clash. Enlighten me, please (not sarcasm).

I love their cover of I FOught The Law

and I have the Combat Rock disc, but its nothing special. SHould I stay is a fun song, that’s about it.

Maybe you like the album covers?

(After some Googling) : OK, seems hardcore fans think the COmbat album is pure sh#t and SISOSIGo is their worst song, a “sell-out song”…

so I guess to appreciate what others see in them I’ll have to download some older stuff.

Suggestions?

I hate U2. They ceased to be a ‘rock’ band long ago. Most overrated, overplayed band on the radio IMO.

Ten-four. Top 100 maybe… And, if you stand for the American way of life, you have got to hate Boner and his politics.

Someone mentioned ColdPlay … now those guys f*cking OWN … new album out in a couple of weeks.
Are we even being serious anymore?! What band was better over the last quarter century? And what band was more influential? Coldplay wouldn’t exist if there was no U2.

And secondly, how the hell is Bono un-American? I don’t think that relieving Aids, third-world debt and hunger is un-American; also, did we forget the 2002 Super Bowl with the American flag jacket?

And last but not least, Henry Rollins criticizing U2 is like King Kamali roasting on Arnold.

I’m gonna have to agree with the people saying U2’s new stuff is crap, granted they had some good music, all their new stuff is revolting. At least that Bono guy is attempting to help out society in a big way (I’d heard he was a candidate for the Nobel Peace Prize). Regardless though, I don’t like U2 or Coldplay.

Coldplay is sad and depressing music, with downtrodden beats and boring melodys and rhythms, I am 95% sure the only reason people listen to them is because they are force fed to listen to that crap over the radio.

Than again, I love 80’s rock and all kinds of tunes that “pick me up,” this holds true from hip-hop to country, and all things in between.

Zebrahead is the mad note.

“I turned 21 in prison
doin life without parole
no one could steer me right
Mama tried, mama tried.
Mama tried to raise me better,
but her pleading I denied,
thats leaves only me to blame
cause mama tried.”

Merle Fucking Haggard Baby!!!

The Clash? Come on, London Calling, Train in Vain. They were before their time. They were punk before punk. They played ska when nobody had a clue what the fuck it was. I can see how most non-english people would have a problem understanding them because they sang about the social ills of their time. Their music is not poppy, not real catchy. It’s fucking angry music.
