I don’t think the WBO title is recognized as a major one. WBA, WBC, and IBF titles are necessary to become the undisputed champion. If this Klitschko guy lost to Ross Purity, he may get dropped by Ray Mercer. Remember, Mercer had both Holyfield and Lewis on the ropes before.
O.K. They have been in the ring before, but it was a sparring session, not a fight, and they both went at it pretty hard. However therebecause it was a sparring session there was no winner/loser.

Yes the WBO is not one of the top sanctioning bodies. Sanctioning bodies are like political parties, each one claiming that their candidate is the best, but until there is a vote ( or in the case of boxing a unification bout), it means nothing. Wladimir Klitschko is 6’6", 240-250 (lean), has an 83" reach. He is in excellent physical shape and has KO power, and good boxing skills. If you still doubt whether he is a top fighter, here is the rankings from “The Ring” magazine (the bible of boxing):

Not that it matter, but Wladimir, has the best record of all if you figure in the KO percentage (92% versus Tyson's 88%). He did lose to Ross Purity, but he beat Chris Byrd, who is the WBC#2 contender. Mercer was great in his day, but he is getting old, and is out of shape. It is stilll and important fight, but Klitschko should win.

Tyson for sure! Lewis is too much of a sissy. I never had respect for Lewis because he never had a heavyweight tittle fight in his whole carrer except with Holleyfield. Meanwhile, Tyson won the heavyweight tittle when he was in his early twenties, and kept it for many years. Tyson is going to step in to that ring and win by TKO.
You forgot that Lewis beat Holyfield twice while Tyson lost to Holyfield twice. Man, I can’t wait just one more day.
I would like to see Lewis win it. But I doubt he will. Tyson is a crazy son of a bitch! Whoever steps in the ring with crazy ass Tyson has some big balls. I say Tyson in 3 rounds by a TKO.

At the risk of being flamed, isn’t pro boxing slightly less real tha pro wrestling? Lokk at the people involved. Some boxers are obviously great athletes, but it’s probably as dirty as IFBB bodybuilding.Does the winner of this fight also have to blow Joe and Ben Weider?
No one answered your post on white heavyweights, so I thought I would. You asked why there has never been one, and I have to ask you how much Boxing history do you know?? I am a self proclaimed Boxing historian, I just plain and simply love Boxing, but you dont have to study it like I do to remmember the following: Jack Dempsey,James J. Braddock, Rocky Marciano, Max Schmelling, Max baer, and If you want to really go back: John L. Sullivan, James J Jefferies, and Bob Fitzsimmons, who I should note was also Brittish. All these men were the heavyweight champion, and ALL were White. And to say that no white Heavyweght was good is ludicous. Jack Dempsey would have stood a chance against ANY BODY old or new, even at 200lbs he just hit WAY too hard. As far as the Lewis/Tyson fight. I am certain it will transform this way: Tyson will open very fast, and the early rounds is where he has his shot. If he gets in the punch in before the 4th he may win. However I DO NOT see it happening. As a fight goes on Tyson gets in a rut, and never pulls out, and Lewis will have his way with him for 12 rounds. I see it as a slightly boring fight, as long as Tyson can remain somewhat sane, and not get DQ’d…Now go watch the fight and see if I am right.
Yes ,boxing is dirty, fights can be rigged, judges bought. But knock someone out, and their is no question who one. Don’t let it go to a decision

Just wanted to add that Lewis whooped Tyson’s ass and that Lewis ain’t no sissy. It wasn’t even close. I would have to say that Lewis is definitely the best heavyweight of his generation. Also what kind of drugs did you think they had Tyson on? Man, he was too nice. Wiping Lewis’s sweat off his face and all. Talking all nice, it kind of threw me off.

I never said there has not been a great white heavyweight, I was referring to the last 20 or so years. You have to admit their has been a dry spell. But now with the fall of the Soviet Union, their are some very good white fighters coming our way, in all divsions.
