Types Of Underarmor??

Ok guys, this is for those of you who know anything about this stuff. I got two pieces of UA for Christmas - (1) a “heat gear” tank top and (2) a “Turf gear” long sleeved shirt.

My question is in relation to (2). According to the tag, it is for hot weather. Apparently for cold weather you are supposed to use “cold gear.” My issue is, since I don’t play football or turf sports, I can’t ever see myself wanting to wear long sleeves in hot weather - I’d just use the tank. So would the turf gear shirt be of use in cold weather - say under a fleece? It seems like it would still wick, provide a little warmth, and the fleece would do the rest… Or is it actually utterly useless in cold, in which case I should try to switch it for a “cold gear?”

It depends on your intra-thoracic pressure as a function of percentage of 1RM.

If it’s not too much of a pain, exchange it.

But you got it right. Any fabric will help some, especially layered like you mentioned. And I would think this ‘hot’ weather clothing would wick really well, which is also important in cold weather. Ever sweat in the cold? It get’s might uncomfy if it’s not wicked away from the skin.

Thats what I was thinking - I mean, I’m sure the cold gear wicks AND is warm - but if you can get the warmth from something else maybe the other isnt so bad.

sniper,
i have several friends that work for under armour here in baltimore. the purpose of the turf gear being long sleeve is that it fends off “turf burn” which is the unbelievably painfull wound that happens when you fall on the turf bare skinned. this stuff works well in the winter though too, thats when i wear mine.

I also wear mine on my bike (motorcycle). The freeways around here are covered in small sand particles so that shit gets tossed at you by the car in front of you which is like being hit with a pellet gun. The turf gear helps and keeps me cool. Being long sleeved doesn’t seem to matter much because they still allow air in. Yes, they can be worn in the winter as an undershirt. I do it all of the time. I generally sweat a lot. These shirts have helped…they are just expensive for the most part.
