Serious question: How can there be a difference between a 120 Hz and a 240-600 Hz screen when you only put in 24 Hz? (Or 60 from a computer)
OT:
1080p resolution is a must
Look at reviews of whatever you’re buying, and if possible visit a store and see for yourself.
HDMI doesn’t always work that well with all computers. So VGA or DVI ports can prove useful.
And I’ve gotten used to a 46 inch screen. 32 feels very small now. Are you sure 32 is right?
Remember we are used to 19" being our big tv. Our tv room is 10 x 13. We will be sitting about 7 ft away.
I’ve been told the eye can’t differentiate 720 and 1080 at 32" and under although 1080p is true HD tv.
32" at 7ft should be ideal to take in the full picture.
Just go to the store and look at various screens and resolutions from 7 feet to find your own preference though, probably easiest.
I’ve been happy with Sony. Great quality, no issues 4 maybe 5 years in. 46" 1080p, 120 Hz
Don’t skimp on cables either, you actually do get what you pay for.
The 720 v. 1080 you mention is consistent with what I have read. The times I have seen true HD I was not a huge fan and 3rd is definitely out. When you get as.many migraines as I do, fancy tv can be a bit too much.

I hope you’re not referring to paying more than $5 for an HDMI cable?
My old boss paid over $120 for one HDMI cable and told me he could see the difference, I LOL’d.
It’s like buying a better USB cable for your printer and expecting to get a better print out of it.

Exactly - digital interface (HDMI) means it works or it doesn’t. HDMI cables are nothing like speaker wire, which actually can make a difference.

If you’re not too picky, this might be true for video, but if you’re gonna hook it up to a computer, only getting half the resolution will be very noticeable.
I see a difference between 720p and 1080p 7 feet away from a 24 inch screen. 720p is by no means bad, but things like a striped shirt will look a lot better at 1080p. Considering how cheap TVs have gotten, I see no reason to get a 720p TV. What’s the price difference? 20 bucks?
@HDMI cables:
How hypnotizing a striped shirt can be in 720p:
There’s a 720p phone coming. Don’t use the same resolution on a screen 50 times as big.
