Well I’m looking to buy a TV for my bedroom, I will be about 8 ft away from the TV when viewing so I’m going with a 32" screen. I’m aiming to pay around $3-400 so any of you guys have suggestions on a good 32" LCD 720p TV?

For real though, Vizio makes some good TVs for cheap. I got mine during one of those Tax Free weekends. 32in 1080i Vizio Plasma. Think I paid 400-500 though…

Do they even make tv’s under 40" anymore?
Forget the brand, they are all made in one of three Chinese factories. Make sure to look at your TV in a store, even if ordering online, before you buy it - notice the contrast ratio, speed, etc. Get as many inputs as you can.
Dude if you’re going to drop some cash, just go with 1080p. Sitting up that close you’re GOING to notice if it’s 720. Here:

I would avoid Insignia like the plague. My co-worker works evenings at best buy and has seen alot of them come back. Online reviews of that model are negative as well.

You can get a 42" 1080P for under $600 these days if your patient. My favorite site on earth is www.slickdeals.net . It’s basically a bunch of nerds (like me) pasting up awesome deals when they come across them. The comments on there are very helpful and people are always posting TV’s on there.
On 720P vs 1080P you’re very close to the limit since you sitting only 8 ft from the TV. Here is a chart:

Scroll down and you’ll see a table where you can plug in numbers. For 32" it says you won’t be able to tell the difference unless you sit 6 ft or closer.
Personally I’d recommend a Panasonic Vierra. I have the 42" and love it. I got it for $480 last September for a 720P. Bought from Dell.com thanks to slickdeals. They make great TV’s.

I got a sharp 42inch 1080p for under 500 November last year so I would say try to get 42inch 1080p 120hz for 500is this time around sounds from name brand sony/sharp/lg/samsung/panasonic about right.
I have a 32" Panasonic Viera LCD that is 720P that I got for under $400 awhile back. I don’t have a cable box in my room so the only thing in HD is my PS3 and I think it looks great. Only complaint is the speakers on the tv kind of suck but I have a sound bar in front of it which is great.

I literally just bought one yesterday for my bedroom. It’s a samsung 27" LCD 1080 resolution.
Great, great TV. I highly recommend Samsung… easily had the best picture out of those on the shelf, and the online reviews of the company are positive overall.
Mine cost $379. You could probably get the 32" for a good price with a little searching.
I second staying away from Insignia. They tempted me with their price but I read awful shit online about them.
Samsung & Sony, the 2 brands I’d look at when buying a TV personally.
I honestly think you will be disappointed with a 32’ 720p. I would pony up and go for a 40’ 1080p (only if you watch a lot of HD though).
Samsung is the best IMO. May not be the cheapest but worth the money.

This. make sure you test TVs with the inputs you use most, not just DVDs. You might be surprised how crappy basic content can look on a good set. Mess with the settings too. Stores typically put TVs they want to sell in “torch mode” to draw shoppers in. Be patient too, prices will to drop, especially with the holidaze in the near future.
