By the way, this is the link for my Fall Fat Loss program. It worked so well, I stopped doing it!!!
Can’t access your newsletter. Please explain the 40-workout workout.
My time is up for tonight…but I promise to check back in again and answer all the questions. I have had a nice time.
For those of you who don’t know where to find my site, go to danjohn.org
I have three free books, tons of articles on stuff, lots of junk, yes, it is a mess. There is a new Get Up that just came out today, too. It is an odd little newsletter, but find another newsletter…free…that has an Olympic Gold Medalist in the shot write articles for it. (Not me)
I’m thinking of asking TC if he will let me have a morning session of Prime Time. I really like doing this…
Thanks for taking the time to chat with me earlier today. Wanted to let you know that I cleaned (allbeit only the 45lb bar) and then C&J’d each for 5 sets of 3 today. As we discussed today, the first reconstructive surgeon said it would take 4-7 months to get my arms back over my head. Today is 10 weeks and a day post surgery ![]()
I’ll be back to throwing heavy stuff in no time… been missing that tire flip and workouts with Charles and Josh.
Just wanted to say thanks for all the great info and keeping it simple. If everyone would just learn that its not about the newest, shiny equipment at the big gym/spa down the street. Its about lifting heavy stuff up, putting it down, repeating.
I guess I’ll just have to be extra vigilant next time and see if I can pinpoint it. Thanks!

Hmmm…the wrists? On Overheads? Wow…you could be TOO wide, you know. Move the grip in a touch and see if that helps. The first few weeks of Overheads or Front Squats are a real learning period for the wrists…
Let me think about this one…John K wrote:
Dan, I just posted this on the OLAD thread, but since you’re monitoring here, I’ll repeat it briefly.
- Just did OLAD trying “Overhead Squats”.
- Wrists started bugging me after a few sets.
- Used a wide grip (near last set of rings, I am 5’9" if that matters)
- Was using a light bar to try to get technique (75 lbs total).
Any suggestions about what I’m probably doing to bug them? Other exercises normally don’t do this, though I think I’ve had this happen when trying a wide grip on a back squat before as well. In that case I just brought my grip in and started pushing my elbows forward and voila all was well.
Thanks!

. Please explain the 40-workout workout.
You make a workout. Do it 40 days…maybe 8 weeks of five workouts a week. Don’t vary the exercises, but go up in weight when it feels light.
Not for the faint hearted…
Awesome! Thanks!
I’ve often thought that T-mag should have a section dedicated to sequences of technique pictures and videos, that could be accessed seperately as well as linked to from articles. I mean, people would love to be two clicks away from seeing Cressey deadlifting photographed from a couple of different angles at 3 or 4 points of the lift, or Dave Tate demonstrating a pull through the way he means it, or whatever, right? A video accompanied by stills at multiple angles with overlays highlighting key points, what could beat that? OK, that’s asking a lot, but what a killer feature.

Do you have any pointers for dumbell snatching? This seems like a productive exercise, but I’m hesitant to start playing with it because it seems like an easy one to mess up.
Have you seen Brad Cardoza’s DB snatch video(s)? … very helpful … start light … check them here:

This might just be me, but I’m more interested in how I look in a mirror and how much weight I move than what my bf% is or what is the ‘measurement’ of my bi’s. This is just me though. I’m discovering that if I can’t enjoy what I am doing, then what is the point? As I stated earlier in another thread, I enjoy training cuz it’s fun, I eat healthy cuz it really does taste good, and I live right (the best I can each day) cuz I feel better when I do so. The last part is REALLY important for me, being who and what I am.
Agreed, but sometimes you may not be totally satisfied with what you see in the mirror, or you may feel like you’re not achieving balanced results for some reason, and quantifying, and planning accordingly to balance things out a bit can be appropriate.
