I had no idea what this was until last Sunday. Now I cant stop watching it. This has to be one of the best forms of racing there is. And probably the best video I have see on youtube in a long time. Enjoy.
Man, I hate seeing an awesome video in the middle of winter and not be able to ride.
Where is that?
I’m not a biker, but that was pretty cool.
Isle of Man is in the UK.
This is the gutsiest race in the superbikes and supermen calendar.
Even Valentino Rossi said he had neither the technique nor the guts to do it!
VALENTINO ROSSI
Extremely fast and extremely dangerous. The level of commitment to concentration and awareness is total.
Check out this momentary lapse of attention:
Imagine the size of the seats that accommodate these men’s balls…
They are demi-gods in my eyes!!!
I shall be attending next year!!!
Cannot wait!!!
P.S. I also want to do route 66, at much lower speeds, obviously.
Might be going this year with either a few riding mates or a girl from work for her 21st, should be mega. There are so many good road racers that never get any respect, you should check out the dunlop family from ireland they have a huge racing history.
Motogp has nothing on the manx, tt and other road races around the calender. The last few weeks have left my bikeless cause of the snow and ice and I’ve been completely miserable catching the bus and now this thread has made it worse!
If you’re interested in this, check out some of guy martins onboard footage, he’s a crazy bastard who’s as casual as you like and he’s a real down to earth guy.
i was watching the sidepod racing on the isle of man the other day, thats quite a rush to watch. i wasnt aware valentino was in it this year, he is the only reason i ever even watch moto GP, hes simply a beast when it comes to motorsport.

I absolutely LOVE Valentino Rossi!
( I am female it’s ok )
He has me flabbergasted. I was watching the Moto GP last year whilst I was on the tread mill and I stayed on for 1h and 40 minutes, ha. And when the machine stopped me I still stood there watching the end of the race and that whole golden egg fun fare the Italians do to celebrate him - I think he is great for the sport. Fun and genius!
He is not in this year, not that I am aware of. He was in last year as a guest where he said on the above video he is grateful this race is not on the MotoGP calendar.

A friend of mine went last year and he gave me the bug - he said the atmosphere is fantastic!
You can hardly see them pass by as the speeds are so fast and the sound of these monster bikes is astounding!
I have not been able to ride for a while myself and am miserable about it.
I bought all my bike leather 2 years ago in San Fran after 1 1/2 year of no exercise and lost at least 6kg of muscle and was 10kg lighter in weight.
Did an experimental steroid 2 week cycle to kick my ass back into the gym and exploded in size. Now my bike pants won’t go over my thunder thighs and that is 5 pants and 800.00 GBP worth of leather parked at my wardrobe. So I have refused to buy new ones, at least till the summer.
What bike do you have?

Oh no, it isn’t…
Wijipedia: “The Channel Island bailiwicks of Jersey and Guernsey, and the Isle of Man are Crown Dependencies which means they are constitutionally tied to the Monarch (King or Queen) but are not constitutionally part of the UK”
Sorry, but good friends are Manx and they take that seriously.

Ok, it’s in the vicinity of the UK.
Happy?
(It’s a good thing I’m not actually British cause this would be embarrassing - guess you learn something new everyday).
Glad the Belgian stepped in before I had to. Could have gotten messy
We’re in the British Isles, but not the UK or Great Britain (as the UK is the “United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.”)
But anyway, I’m more relaxed about that sort of thing these days. The benefits of growing up, eh? If saying it’s in the UK would help someone work out roughly where we are, then it’s all good for me.
I’ve got a vfr400 just cause they sound AWESOME and the handling is insane. I dont trust myself with anything over a 600 - I’ve been on my mates zx6r and I found myself arriving at 110 mph just by going through the gears, not even pinning the throttle. Thats good news for my enjoyment, but bad news for my liscence. The UK laws on driving and riding are getting ridiculous, I dont know how it is over where you are but I start to see over 100 and I’m more worried about my liscence these days.
As far as bike gear goes - I’m pretty understanding of that. I have 16" calves and only 22" legs - to get a decent fit is really difficult cause the calf part is always too small, or the thigh is too big - and the waist is all over the place. I’d put some money away for some tailored leathers - but considering I want to add about 40lbs of mass I’ve brought a power rack with some of those proceeds instead lol.
The american stunting scene and the offroad stuff is really high level, but from what a friend told me theres not many quick road riders compared to the nutters you get over here. You’d LOVE the TT but you always need to book up early if you wanna stay on the island for a while.
What bike do you have?
I may have just realised you’re not in America and might be in the UK, lol
Don’t forget that when you talk UK road laws, you aren’t including the Isle of Man (actually, this time it is an important distinction). Over here, when you see the national speed limit sign (white circle with a black stripe through it, for any visitors unaware) we have no speed limit. None at all. My 60 odd year old dad averages over a ton over the mountain on his bikes
I thought UK didn’t include isle of man
Apologies!
P.S Thats cause your roads are far better than English roads! haha
I think we’ve talked at cross purposes. Isle of Man isn’t UK. All I wanted to point out was that if you make it over here this year, you can do 110+ and your license is safe. (assuming you’re on a road with no speed limit, that is)
I know I’m just being a fool lol I’ve been to the isle of man a few times, never when the TT is on though. It’s a fantastic place to visit, and if I had a good amount of money in the bank I could easily move there.
No way Rossi is racing in the TT. I just can’t see Yamaha risking it. They pay him something like 30 million a year. Would you risk that for a race that people are killed in and has no bearing on the his own series. I hope I’m right, but if he is he’s crazy.
Thats probably why you don’t see any riders from Moto GP race at the Daytona 200. Back in the 60’s and 70’s all the top riders in the world raced in it. Takes alot of balls to go around that banking at 200 mph+.
When Rossi won another title this year I was going to start a thread but I didn’t think it would get much responce. Been watching this guy since he was on a 125. Those victory lap escapades were hilarious. The only guy who hates the site of him is Sete Gibernau lol. Rossi’s hex on him worked…Gibernau never won another race after he ratted out Rossi for sweeping his grid position at a desert track.
Rossi is the GOAT…sorry Ago, you are now second.
“V For Victory” with Joey Dunlop was a movie made in the early eighties that is a must see for anyone thats interested in the TT imo. I’ll never forget the part when Joey is doing a running dialoge whilst watching the on bike camera footage. On one corner that’s insanely hard he say’s “I’m not to fond of that corner”. So casual like he’s doing a taste test for some new product lol.
This is awesome. Thanks for posting. I am just really starting to get into motorcycle racing, but that video was absolutely amazing.
And Rossi is awesome, but I dont know much about him other than what I catch on the TV every so often.
