Trump: The Third Year

To be fair, neither do you :stuck_out_tongue:

I’ve been busting your balls about calling Trump unbeatable for years now. Good times!

Which is weird. Appearances pretty clearly show the Dems not suffering anywhere near the level you’re constantly saying.

Appearances show Trump losing. While I wholeheartedly admit you can’t go solely on appearances, it feels weird to claim you’re appearances based, then fall on the side of those commonly discrediting appearances

Isn’t that partly due to the dems controlling congress for far longer spans of time than the reps?

Confusing…but okay…

Absolutely. But that doesn’t mean concepts of seat stealing are universal. History has shown Dems win big when the GOP royally fucks up. This seems pretty standard to me.

Lazy Dem voters are my biggest gripe tbh. Which is only more frustrating when you see how much more skilled the GOP is at voter suppression.

You said you’re a sucker for appearances. Appearances (even from Fox news) don’t show 4 more years of trump.

You can be a sucker for appearances, you can not believe polling, you can’t be both.

How so?

In my opinion, the GOP has done a much more effective job at gerrymandering. Coupled with their recent higher court wins on the topic, I don’t see that advantage fading anytime soon.

Then there’s voter ID laws, of which I’m not necessarily opposed to, but with the recent push from the GOP to gerrymander, I’m stuck thinking they have bad intentions.

Then you’ve got the GOPs recent love for restricting early voting, despite not being able to show it being abusable for double votes.

And it’s not like the Dems aren’t trying to go tit for tat here. They’re just hilariously bad at manipulating govt levers the way Republicans can

I’m curious, @pfury

Who did you pick winning between Clinton and Trump?

I predicted Clinton winning by millions, even after the Bernie event that almost convinced me to stay home.

Edit: fwiw, I predicted a landslide pop vote. While Trump was hilariously beat, it was much closer than I called

Definitely didn’t predict that EC result though

No question about it…

Well Dems are demonstratively less intelligent than GOP…oops wrong thread :zipper_mouth_face::grin:

I am against mail in voting, broadcasting results before closing, and allowances of voting with no id.
Gerrymandering is a hot topic and l wouldn’t know the best way to design districts, but agree that odd shapes that are 100 miles long 2 miles wide, don’t give any appearance of fair play.

It’s all those ‘not white people.’ Growing viewpoint these days it seems.

Any particular reason? Are you against all forms of voting that allow for densely populated areas to vote efficiently or just mail in?

This doesn’t make much sense to me. The Democrat front runners are beating him in almost every head to head poll available.

Alright, @H_factor!

Don’t start going all @pfury on me!!! (LOL!)

Yeah. I totes don’t see it either! It seemed completely natural and unforced. She smokeum peace pipe and drinkum beer.

I’d like to see every voter have to pass a test at least as difficult as a citizenship exam in order to become a registered voter, personally.

Eh. Sounds alright as a jokey theory. I’m not comfortable giving pols another lever they can use to control who’s allowed to vote.

Keeping people away from voting tends to only shake out well for pols and rich people. I’m neither.

This makes no sense to me. Not comfortable letting politicians control who’s allowed to vote for them, because that only works out well for the politicians everyone is going to vote for.

As it is, I’d rather see no voter restrictions whatsoever. Visiting the U.S.? You get to vote. Just finished eating a guy’s brain and curing his skin in order to make yourself a fashionable jacket? You get a vote.

The ability over time to make the test easier/harder to pass would be the lever they can then pull.

I’d like it to be 1 vote per legal citizen who is subject to the laws being passed.

You do know literacy tests and poll taxes were used by southern democrats to keep freed blacks from voting right?

There’s a near zero chance that a new test would be administered in a manner consistent with fair play.
