Was Jesus falsely accused?
Even if true, and it isn’t, does it make those who voted for him look better or even worse?
Are you implying that the modern-day King Cyrus would have socialized with a * checks Infowars notes* rapist and the Benghazi murderer ? How dare you Sir, that’s blasphemy!

Also, much like Trump’s cognitive abilities, this clip didn’t age well:
@treco Weren’t you the guy saying Biden’s declining speech pattern over the years makes you think Dementia is a possibility/likelihood?
I’m actually kinda shocked to hear him using full sentences and a normal speaking voice. 100% not sarcastic. Wowsers
Never said it was admirable, few things in politics are.
Toe-may-toe, toe-mah-toe
I’m using the fact that the vast majority of voters (people who care enough about politics to… vote) do not consider themselves the hard fringes of their respective parties. Most Democrat voters don’t support gun confiscation, open borders, reparations, socialism etc… most Republican voters don’t support theocratic laws, zero regulations, never ending war etc…
Trump got a lot of moderates, suburban white women and independents to vote for him. Not exactly the “worship the demagogue right winger ignore the facts crowd”. He won the “blue wall” states full of disaffected rust belt union Democrats.
These are not blind wingnuts reading zerhodge and Breitbart. They took a look at their available options, and with full knowledge that Trump is who he his… pulled the lever for him anyway.
You’re making the same mistake as a conservative saying that Obama only got votes from guilty whites and black Panthers… I.e. ignorant people that didn’t know he was mentored by Frank Marshal Davis and launched his career in Bill Ayers’ home. People that aren’t super progressive died blue leftists knew that, and voted for him anyway.

People rarely consider themselves the fringes.
You kidding? Same sex marriage support is still sub 50% with the GOP. On a downward trend in 2019.
Agreed. I’ve been very vocal about how he’s bleeding these people as supporters, and thus it would make sense the people who no longer support him aren’t being spoken of when talking of ‘Trumpkins’ and the like.
It’s actually possible to disavow someone you vote for. I’ve dun seent it.
I’m making nothing of the sort. You claimed a VAST MAJORITY of the people who voted for Trump saw him as he is. I disagree with the assertion that 25% of either party is truly informed. 50++% sounds like a funny joke.
Personally, I think you’re projecting your rationale onto people who show very few signs of thinking like you do. Fearmongering and deflection/diversion tactics are shown to work on the sheeple. It’s absurd to think the 2016 voting bloc was in any way immune to it.
I wouldn’t use the election of President Obama in your comparisons, @Basement_Gainz…2008 is a far away from 2016 as President Obama is from Trump (in whatever way one wishes to take that).
The election of President Obama was one that for more “for” him as opposed to some “protest” vote against Senator McCain.
Fast-forward to 2016…and a significant part of the Trump victory was as much “against” Hillary Clinton as it was “for” Trump…and that is across all of the Demographics your listed.
Much like is happening on another thread; we simply are not going to agree on this one…and that’s okay. I always welcome healthy and respectful disagreement.
And many would like to think they give things a lot of careful and measured thought.
ALL of us have said “f*ck it!” from time to time…
That’s what I think happened with a lot of those who pulled the lever for Trump in 2016.
You don’t need to be a thoughtful news junkie to learn that Trump is a demagogue with a small vocabulary and an un presidential demeanor. Watch a speech or two and you got it.
That’s awfully elitist of you @pfury. How much does a gallon of milk cost?! Do you even know?!
He’s gaining in the polls the longer the impeachment show trial goes on. Both in favorability and in a theoretical Biden matchup.
I disagree. While we can find examples of politicians throughout history being dicks to one another in recent history I can’t remember anyone as consistently as big of a dick to essentially everyone in the country. Anyone who says anything remotely critical of him is lambasted in a manner that we simply haven’t seen consistently at the highest levels.
We’re not that far removed from John McCain taking the microphone from a woman who called Obama an Arab to correct her and say that Barack Obama was a decent family man. The Republicans went from running someone who would correct that to someone who would encourage and incite that type of behavior.
Trump completely tore down the idea that the opposition has a difference of opinion or any type of mutual respect for others. . Now the left has responded and became the same thing.
His consistent inflammatory rhetoric is unlike anything we’ve seen from a President since I’ve been alive. If you watch speeches and rallies of Regan, Bush 1 and 2, Obama, Clinton they don’t look anything like Trump’s. And (imo) not for the better.
Good link.
I think I’ve said before I can fully understand being against the current Dem crop. What I can’t understand is Republicans tying themselves to Trump. He doesn’t represent much of what they have long claimed as a party to stand for.
What’s sad is that currently that’s the binary choice we’ve given ourselves in saying well we’ve got whoever the Dems have and we’ve got whoever the Republicans have. That’s how you get a matchup of two historically despised people running for the Presidency and knowing one of those two will win.
That’s the benchmark for claiming Americans knew who they were voting for and did it anyway? That he’s a populist who doesn’t think?
I guess I agree if that’s where the flag is.
Absolutely, but I always send one of my goons. They keep asking for my driver’s license to purchase.
Which is great for him considering how ‘new record’ triggered he’s been lately. Personally I’ll be hella impressed if he pulls more votes as an impeached president. Guess time will tell.
People like to think it’s the other guy who’s an idiot.
America is finally starting to pay the price for its beloved anti-intellectualism and devaluing of Western culture.
Trump is weird. The impeachment is certainly helping the RNC raise more money than ever.
“The RNC told [Fox News] that this is the best November on record in party history.”
It’s not really that weird in the context of the GOP defense to impeachment.
Dudes out there on social media every day screaming of abuse of power, coups, deep state, etc.
But then again, as you stated, Trump’s voters are obviously doing their own independent research, as they know EXACTLY the kinda guy he is. The vast majority at least ![]()
I mean, he held a two hour rally during the impeachment vote itself. Headline read “I don’t know about you but I’m feeling pretty good.”
Troll-in-chief lol.
An hour after being impeached, because Debbie Dingell voted for impeachment, Trump joked at his rally that her recently late husband, whom she’s preparing to spend her first Christmas without, is in hell. Prezzzzzzzidential!
And silence from most of the fucking cowards across the aisle in Congress. Seriously, this guy has called Mattis the most overrated general ever, attacked Mccain after he was dead (and said he didn’t like POW’s before he died), and has now said one of the most horrific things you can say to a widow ABOUT A WW2 VETERAN. Please, please, please somebody explain to me how this doesn’t deserve some sort of punishment. The party of family values is preparing to throw themselves into oncoming traffic to protect this monster, and millions more worship him like an idol while claiming to be Christian. If you made the seven deadly sins into a person, it would be our president. They’ve even given him a chance to apologize, several times, and he’s refused to even answer questions about it.
I’d say even longer. We’ve NEVER had a POTUS who was as consistently this way. Even Nixon–who was fucking paranoid–didnt do it in public. Every day. With tweets. And incomprehensible sentences
