Trump’s cultists won’t care. It’s really bizarre how strong their adoration and reverence is for him. I can’t relate to someone who can invest so much in another person.

lol, I’m with Z on this one, Trumpkins don’t care. I talked to my Trump supporter friend after the news dropped and the Manafort case was easily dismissed with “it doesn’t have anything to do with Trump” and Cohen was dismissed with “it doesn’t change how I think about his character”.
I was just laughing at the irony that an affair could lead to Trump’s downfall. Lock her…I mean him…up?

It’s looking like the midterms will be about “impeach” or not. His calculation is that there will not be “blue wave” enough to impeach him.
Like you I won’t try to predict the midterm. We’ll see if his bet is correct.

If the Dems end up with the numbers to attempt impeachment, it would be a mistake imo. Why give the Republicans a better candidate to run in 2020?
They need that scalp. They can’t abide someone they consider to be “literally hitler” as president.
I’m not sure what their platform is for 2018/ other than “resist” and “socialism”.
Like you I think he makes a better bogeyman for 2020 if all they have is “resist” to run on.
MAYBE Trump should at the very least tone-down the “Where is the Collusion?” line?

Because, outside of actual impeachment, he says “told you so, fake news.” With all the media, controversy, and the amount of time and money invested, not being impeached would be a huge win for Trump. I think they have to try.
I’m thinking that without impeachment, Trump mops the floor with his opponent.
I’m with your friend on this one. The news re Cohen has not affected how I think about Trump’s character–not one bit.
His calculation might be that the Dems will take the House (which seems very likely), but not the Senate (also seems very likely). Thus, he will get impeached (by the House), but acquitted (by the Senate). Then he will run against the ‘Deep State, Weak on Crime and Immigration, Mueller-Loving Dem House’ in 2020.

Depends on the opponent. Trump doesn’t attack issues because he really has no clue about the issues. He attacks personality (or lack thereof) and looks.
They could have “where’s the wall?” “When you said you would stop all of those Mexican rapists, did you really mean little kids?” “How does Putin’s **** taste?” “Why did we invade Iran?”

@tedro; I was hoping that the man would have at LEAST learned that he is not running a business, where he calls all the shots; where what he say’s goes; and that people around him are not there to just be yes men/women and flunkies.
He is the Predient of a messy; imperfect Republic of Representative Government…surrounded by more Public and Private Checks and Balances than the World has ever known.
Trump is in for a long tenure if he doesn’t start getting this.
