Trump: The First Year

Holy cow this conversation moved downhill.

For anyone actually interested in the state of the coal industry the Longwall show is in Pittsburgh Tuesday through Thursday. You can ocaisionally meet CEO’s and VP’s right at the booth. You could ask the owners of the Costa mine what they think of an anti coal president vs a fair one. (Spoiler warning).

I have a few free tickets if you’re interested.

You couldn’t be more wrong. For the POTUS to demand a clear-the-room, one-on-one meeting with an FBI Director who is actively investigating members of his campaign and/or admin is totally inappropriate and unethical. I defy you to find a knowledgeable person willing to argue otherwise.

So you admit Trump could be under investigation at the moment?

ED knows he’s lost the argument.

He now Wants me to find an expert to prove a boss meeting with a subordinate in private is unethical.

For the other part of your post, there is no evidence he’s under investigation, until there is there’s no reason to believe he is.

I don’t know if you’re being disingenuous, or trolling, or what. But it is patently absurd to liken the relationship between the POTUS and the FBI Director to that of ‘boss and subordinate.’ This is even more the case when the FBI Director is investigating individuals associated with the POTUS. Like I said, try and find an expert willing to say otherwise.

Until Mueller or someone similarly positioned makes a statement in this regard, you should refrain from saying Trump’s not under investigation, because you simply don’t know.

And for the record, there’s lots of evidence he is under investigation. I’m not saying he is, just that there is evidence suggestive of that. For example:

Raj, your stupidity knows no bounds (nor does ED’s patience). And it’s endlessly humorous that you think Comey’s recent testimony, in any way, vindicates Trump.

Trump can literally pardon Flynn yet it’s some deeply unethical action to meet the director of the FBI who he is the boss of in private.

This is just getting embarrassing.

What’s also funny is your statement that there’s lots of evidence Trump is under investigation but somehow not enough to say he is under investigation

Read your posts on Trump russia for the last few months

You win clown of the year award

For what exactly? The Russia investigation has done nothing but escalate in that time; it’s reaching a fever-pitch now. Buckle up, because this is far from over.

Anyways I’m going to watch the end of the nba finals, you clowns would fit right in at CNN

It is indeed.

‘There’s evidence of X, but not enough to say X is definitely true.’

I’m not sure why that’s funny, but OK.

Yes, it is - such a scenario is facially improper because Trump has a conflict of interest, and people who have a even a baseline understanding of government and business in the real world know such a scenario is a problem.

Very embarrassing. Maybe go ask your dad how all this stuff works.

This is so odd - if Russia didn’t do anything, why is the Senate agreeing on this amendment?

U.S. senators reached an agreement on Monday on legislation imposing new sanctions on Russia, including a provision that would prevent the White House from easing, suspending or ending sanctions without congressional approval.

It’s almost like even non Trumptard Republicans are pissed that Russia was screwing around with our election. I give the GOP Congress 2 thumbs up for having some balls in this regard.

We spent over $10M dollars and 1,000+ days investigating the attack in Benghazi. Lord knows how much it cost to look through HRC’s emails, but let’s just drop this whole Russia thing. It’s such a waste of time and money…

And they want to put Russian sanctions - mainly the removal of - under Congressional oversight.

So, in this polarized world, both Democratic and Republican Senators at least agree on one thing - Trump can’t be trusted to manage sanctions against Russia.

It’s little things like this that give me hope for the future. I genuinely expected most of the GOP Congress to just turn around and bend over to Trump. Good to know after his hype died down they still felt like doing a little bit of governing, even if they shit the bed with everything else so far.

Silver lining and all that.

I don’t know the circumstances of this post…but I thought that it deserved emphasis:

…I expect the level of hypocrisy over the course of the next 4-8 years to be hilariously high…

Another post that deserves emphasis.

I am hoping that with all of the negativity around the POTUS that it really shifts We The People’s emphasis and spotlight to Congress in such a way that they feel the heat a bit more, they can’t sit as idly as before and will be forced to find solutions across the aisle.

Agreed. There are some good signs. Regardless of how one feels about the policies, it was a good step when the Freedom Caucus rebuffed Trump on the first attempt to repeal Obamacare, and now even stronger medicine on Russia sanctions, which again, worth noting, is bipartisan.

The emerging theme is that Congress is regrowing its spine, and that is due in large part because members of Congress don’t fear Trump. And they have no reason to.
