I can’t decide whether I think he’s using the hurricane as ā€˜cover’ for doing this. What do you think?

Then there’s this:

I’ve read speculation that pardoning Arpaio is Trump’s way of placating his base for Gorka being moved out.

The question used to be: is it good for America?

No more.

Now the only question is: does it aggravate the Left?

We live in deeply embarrassing times.

Oh, no question. On a Friday night, right when a massive hurricane is about to land? He’s hoping this won’t be getting air time on Monday.

Incidentally, there is a massive scandal brewing in Hungary - the allegations are slowly coming out drip by drip but currently in very vague terms…

It seems that in the 1990s a bunch of right wing military officers with the tacit approval of higher ups delivered a large batch of army surplus AK-47 to a neo-Nazi group.

Now, two decades later it was allegedly discovered that some of these AK-47s delivered to the neo-Nazis ended up in the hands of radical islamists,

And try to guess who was the alleged go between between the army officers and the neo-Nazis…

Gorka circa 2017 is reprehensible enough, but his history (as revealed here by you) of anti-Semitism, white supremacy et al, and now this, is absurdly unacceptable for someone serving in the WH. Why do we not hear more about this sort of thing in the MSM? The only intimation of this sort I’ve heard concerns that blasted pin he wears.

Well, I can think of several reasons for this - the language barrier, the fact that investigative journalism costs time a money, and the general tendency of MSM to dampen down information coming from other countries due to perceived cultural differences and fear of supposed slights.

For example, there are only a few English language media outlets willing to dive head first into the cesspit of Hungarian far-right politics and you need to find the right person to talk to about Gorka’s outrageous pronouncements made in late 90s and early 2000s.

Several media outlets such as Forward, Politico and even NYT did send reporters to Hungary but from I’ve read they simply didn’t take at face value what their Hungarian interlocutors said and refrained from digging deeper into Gorka’s past. When they heard ā€œGorka is a Naziā€ they supposed it’s simply an emotional qualifier decoupled from actual meaning like ā€œDonald Trump is a Naziā€ which clearly isn’t the case.

They simply couldn’t comprehend that the qualifier ā€œhe’s a Naziā€ often thrown in US political discourse meant an actual Nazi.

If your best buddy is burning an Israeli flag in front of a crowd of black clad fascist storm troopers…well, chances are you’re a Nazi as well.

Here’s a more detailed expose about Gorka and his links with the Iranian regime’s neo-Nazi stooges.

Also, Gorka wasn’t exactly harmless. From the fourth installment of the series, it seemed that Gorka’s buddies had an unprecedented level of White House access:

According to the article, Ms. SzemerkĆ©nyi had already met the new US president three times (!) since his election victory past November. In addition to meeting President Trump, Ms. SzemerkĆ©nyi has, by her own description, met ā€œhalfā€ the US government; she has had three meetings with new Attorney General Jeff Sessions, and has talked with Vice President Mike Pence, Secretary of State nominee Wilbur Ross, and Secretary of State Rex Tillerson as well.

Three meetings with Attorney General Jeff Sessions?

EDIT: Wow. An undisclosed source from the Hungarian government just said they have been contacted by Mueller’s team asking for information about some of Gorka’s business buddies who are on Putin’s payroll.

EDIT 2: Here’s a poster for a rabidly anti-American and anti-semitic conference held in 2003. Gorka’s listed as a keynote speaker (Gorka Sebestyen) alongside the flag burning guy from the video above. Just when did Gorka have a change of heart and became a believer in MAGA?

Part of me is really happy that Mattis is still willing to be the grown up in the room, and then the other part is terrified that Trump clearly didn’t consult with Mattis AT ALL when it comes to banning a subset of people from serving in the military.

From my read, Mattis isn’t really going against Trump here; he’s actually following his directive:

The memorandum gave Mattis until Feb. 1 to present a plan to Trump on how to implement the transgender ban, and what to do with transgender service members already serving. Those marked some of the first details the White House provided on how to carry out Trump’s decision, which initially took many Pentagon officials by surprise when the president announced it on Twitter on July 26.

I give a lot of credit to ā€˜The Generals’ (Mattis, Kelly and McMaster). I strongly suspect that, at this juncture, none of them want to be associated with the Trump administration, and would love to walk away. I think all three are remaining at their posts out of love of country, and concern for what might happen if they left.

I think it’s ā€œagainstā€ Trump in the sense that he froze the ban while they investigate instead of just HerpDerp banning people that are willing to die for this country a la Trump.

Agreed. Wonder what will happen when the last remaining adults inevitably leave the room.

I want to read it that way too, but I just don’t think it’s the middle-finger to Trump that a lot of headlines are making it out to be.

Fully agree that the Generals are the only ā€œadults in the roomā€ of this administration and may literally save us from nuclear war.

Imo any deviation from Trump’s plans, however slight, are huge middle fingers to him. Mostly because that’s how he takes/bitches about it.

Man oh man, are the Trump people getting desperate! They see the obstruction-of-justice freight train barreling toward Trump, and are doing anything they can to try and derail it.

Gonna be an uphill climb to discredit Comey as a witness, though. (Pardon my mixing of metaphors.)

Newsweek is not exactly pro Trump, so are you disagreeing with executive level Justice persons’ comments that Comey’s actions appear out of line? I just don’t foÄŗlow your comment (if meant to follow that article).
