This hits the nail on the head for me as well, he seems to need movement, in any direction, at all times. What concerns me is about what is getting lost in the shuffle, we have all of these ('yuge!) dealings that have everyone’s attention, he is constantly keeping the spotlight on himself, it would not surprise me if there were items and agendas piggy-backed onto bills and executive orders that simply slide through due to spotlight being trained directly on the President. It feels like some of his orders are simply to please his base (which is good) knowing full well that he will simply be blocked on some of the bigger ones (“I tried to radically change education with privatization with Betsy DeVos, but the Dems (Congress/Republicans/Bad Guys) wouldn’t let me!”). Operation Shock and Awe is in full effect, throw all of your ideas out there at once, like ripping off a band-aid, the media and onlookers can only be upset for so long, right? And once they are done being upset offer more moderate changes to existing things and find a much more receptive audience.
If the only real issue you have with the posts of the racist MRA nut are the “tiresome” and “uninformative” attacks on the racist MRA nut, you should stand back and reassess.
In order to save us a step: this piece of trash has been smearing vile horseshit all over PWI – an otherwise stellar place to test ideas against extraordinarily sharp conservative and libertarian minds – since Trump first came crashing up through the toilet. In fact, he is all over the internet, following shitbag white supremacist bloggers around like a pitiable little lapdog & peddling alt-right neo-Nazi shibboleths like “miscegenation” and “dindus.” Guess what we call people who spend their time analyzing elite interracial-coupling propaganda campaigns?
Unsurprisingly, the other guy who is here defending therajraj once used a fake handle to crack jokes about “Barack the Magic Negro.”
But principle is out and nihilism is in, I know. I should join a religious community if I want to pretend that some things are wrong and worth excoriating. Maybe that’s what I’ll do. I assume I’ll have to seriously tone down my language, though.
ISIS has already stated they intend to infiltrate the West using the refugee resettlement program
What confidence can we have in the government in vetting refugees? As demonstrated by the Bowling Green URL I posted above, this country has failed and so have many other governments in Europe.
When you can’t read or write in English, what exactly are your jobs and dating prospects going to look like in that country? It should be no surprise that countries where refugees have migrated to in large quantities such as Sweden and Germany, mass rape has occurred (see: Cologne attacks on NYE)
It doesn’t make economic sense. The cost to resettle refugees elsewhere in the middle east is a fraction of the cost to relocate them in America. If you really want to help people, you can do the most good by doing it locally where they’ll also fit in.
The travel ban by Trump was actually put together by the Obama administration. Trump was taking the advice of the previous administration. Had Obama done this, no one would be in up in arms I imagine.
There shouldn’t be ANY refugees coming to America. Period.
Devil’s Advocate: “Hey, how can we get the West to implode? Oh I know, tell them we use something, causing a knee jerk reaction in which they piss off all of their uneasy allies.” Maybe they have people that understand tactics. “Fight them where they are not.” Or some such thing.
Failed attempts does not mean a failed system, there are exceptions to every rule and humans are not infallible when it comes to judging other human being’s intent. A highly motivated (say religions zealot?) with good coaching will beat a poly or decieve another human being fairly consistently, and if you send hundreds with the same mission, it only takes one set of events to line up for one to get through, isolationism will remove the vetting process due to “no immigration” but it will not remove terrorist threats, I would say it encourages them, “We have them on the run, they are not as great as they once were, they have turned their backs on all of you (refugees)!” Not too shabby of a recruiting speech.
Creation of a job market for the teaching of these folks? Seems like there would be a good market for schools and teachers in these areas, a place to learn marketable job skills. We are the land of opportunity, pull yourself up by your bootstraps and all that.
Resettling in the Middle East is not simply moving, as I believe @loppar (apologies if I misuse or misattribute) alluded to, the world has placed arbitrary lines around and through the Middle East with no rhyme or reason. Moving within the same country does not mean you will be safe culturally, moving outside of the country means the same thing. We have been a country based on freedom from persecution and its not refugees that are throttling the economy.
The previous administration did put it in place, I believe that President Trump simply passed it due to it already having the support in necessary areas to get it done, a “starting point” so to speak, with this I am curious as to why Obama’s administration also left out Saudi Arabia and such, curious.
You don’t have this numbered, but that seems silly, refugees are as much a part of America (when voluntarily a part of the program) as apple pie (which originated somewhere else) and pizza (also borrowed).
Why, the Ukrainians obviously (sarcasm). To quote your man crush Vladimir:
“As we know, the current Ukrainian government took a one-sided position to support one of the candidates during the election campaign in the US,” he said.
“What’s more, some [Ukrainian] oligarchs were even financing this candidate – or female candidate to be more precise – likely with approval from the government.
Incidentally, Russian foreign ministry accused Sen. McCain of “trying to start WW3” after he visited Ukrainian soldiers on the frontline on New Year’s eve, something that was later repeated verbatim by a certain POTUS.
A crazy thing to me is that we have spent more money on our military than the next 10? countries combined, for years, but we need to update the military massively.
It costs a lot of money to maintain the equipment we do have not to mention the cost to train, house, feed, and retain troops and the bases they’re stationed on. There are significant ongoing costs outside of R&D.
An unintentional lie is still a lie. I don’t speak to her intent, only her actions. Since she speaks on behalf of the POTUS, I imagine we should hold her a slightly higher than average standard.
Option 1: She went on national TV and cited a non existent terror attack on accident (which is bad)
Option 2: She went on national TV and cited a non existent terror attack on purpose (which is bad)
