Trump shot? What the hell

Especially by a 20yo kid!

Oftentimes, presidential candidates pick vice presidential candidates instead of picking a vice president. I think Trump picked a vice president, not a vice presidential candidate. That’s not to say that I think Vance is a bad candidate or weak, but rather that I think Trump picked him because he wanted him in the administration rather than because he thought he was the best choice to help him win the election. Youngkin probably brings more to the electoral map and Burgum is a safer pick if you just want someone boring that is harder to attack.

Vance is the pick because he feels Trumpiest. He is very much no Mike Pence.

It seems that JD Vance is the best conservative ā€œRust Beltā€ candidate (particularly for: Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania).

Yeah, I agree. An Ohio guy seems to bring more Political Capital to the table than a Dakota or Virginia guy.

I agree. Hearing him speak tonight, his story was very relatable. I’m a little older than him, but I saw the same things as he did affect the people and places around us the same way.

I’m looking forward to seeing him do some good things.

Me too.

You every try archery? I like traditional recurve. Very visceral with a satisfying ā€œThunk!ā€. But to make a good shot you have to really clear your head, relax, and let it fly.

Back row, 2nd from left, and guy in the center look familiar, but I’m terrible with this kind of stuff.

What strikes me most a few days later is how supportive many seem to be of the attempt, and even celebrations of the dead guy given his support for Trump. At least online.

We’ve typically seen violence relegated to fringe groups on either side, but I’m seeing local people in social media groups on the bandwagon, so it’s not exactly just a few viral comments on repeat in the syndicated media.

Makes me wonder how close we are to a civil war, or at the least civil unrest with much broader incidents of violence than ANTIFA and the Proud Boys reenactment of The Westside Story.

Well, we’re deplorable, so its ok.

I struggle to see this as a possibility. Civil unrest, as you mentioned yes, but we already have that (they’re called riots/marches/demonstrations/uprisings). I don’t see two distinct sides. Our own civil war was between essentially two separate nations. In what we see now, where does the government fit in? Because I could see two sides, who don’t represent most Americans, fighting each other until the government sends in the troops to finish them all off. I don’t know how angry some of these weirdos are, but I’m not even close enough to wanting to kill anyone over it.

The worst thing to happen to this country was citizens identifying with political parties and political ideologies before identifying as citizens.

Or moochers, according to Romney.

Both sides hate Americans and see them as suckers. This is why they will never bring up issues that most Americans agree on, like campaign financing or how politicians should manage their stock portfolios.

The same basic way it did last time there was a civil war. States secede and the Feds say ā€œnoā€.

Border policy could be the flashpoint. Just last year we had armed Texas government officials squaring off against armed Federal government officials over differing notions of border enforcement.

Transgenderism could be another such flashipoint, if the Federal government starts trying to insist that other states follow the model we have in Maine. The people here may be okay with the government telling your child that they need cross-sex hormones and then giving it to them without your knowledge, but a lot of people sort of have a problem with that.

Of course it can happen again.

That would need two things at least: a very homogeneous population and a state willing to get off the federal teat.

I’m not killing anyone over trans bullshit.

I’m not going to war over a small minority of kids who might want to take hormones. And let’s be honest, if your kid starts taking hormones you would know at some point.

We are living in a time where

Evil is called good and good is called evil

The extinction of racists seems nice

Great time to crap on women. Hateful rhetoric is how we got here.

Who is crapping on women? Is there a specific post you’re referring to?

The meme of the female secret service agent.
