Won’t the Iranian people need all that oil infrastructure when they rise up and take their country back?
Yeah, but will they be able to as long as the current regime can fund itself with the oil? Chicken/Egg thing
Yeah, I was being sarcastic. I thought we weren’t doing the regime change thing but it seems like were in it now. I fully expect to see american soldiers in iran in the coming weeks.
I think we will have them on that island and possibly on the shore to secure the Strait. And I think we will keep killing leaders for a while (or at least Israel will). I don’t think we will be attempting nation-building like before, though.
Reports indicate that the oil infrastructure is intact.
Great idea.
Then they will be sitting ducks for missiles and drone attacks.
You can’t have houthis & Iran taking the worlds shipping lanes hostage.
Thats just a big nope. Nations or groups who think thats a good idea gotta go. Boom. They gotta go boom.
They’ve shut down the strait so many times before. It wasn’t some shock. Of course we knew they were going to do it.
But did we think it through?
Fertilizer is make from petroleum and prices are already spiking.
In March. You know, when we’re getting ready to plant stuff.
And Iran has probably figured out that don’t need to sink every ship, they just need enough to scare the companies that insure the ships.
Couple of reasons for the timing. Even the IAEA said they were a few weeks from bomb grade uranium. Throw in the chance to take out most of the leadership in one blow, and it was just too good to pass up.
Considering how often that claim has been made I have a hard time believing it.
I think what a libtard like you dosen’t understand is that he didn’t want to go to war, he was blackmailed into it because he is a child molester.
Weeks away, months away, years away…. but, when is too late. I live too close to Mayport. We are one of the first strike targets. So, when a country trying to become a nuclear power chants “Death to America,” are you surprised that I might feel “death to Iran” might be reaping what you sow. Iran has proven to put action to their words. I am ready to buy the insurance.
I buy collision car insurance before I need it. I prefer it that way. I never was much of a gambler.

Part of what shapes my commentary is the acknowledgement that I’m simply not privy to classified information. I don’t like war very much at all, but I realize that the alternative to war right now could possibly be something much worse. Worse than North Korea’s entrenched one-party nuclear state.
If I go back to my trusty bar analogy, you cannot tolerate intoxicated belligerents if you want your shifts to go somewhat smoothly.
My favorite (conspiracy?) theory du jour on X is that the WH knew Tucker Carlson (on drugs? on money?) has de facto become an Iranian agent. So, they invited him to the WH and convinced him nothing was in the works for an attack on Iran. Reassured and emboldened, the heads of the Iranian mullah regime felt safe to all be at one big meeting, in the same room…

I think there’s an element of plausibility to that.
I’m on the fence with the whole Tucker Carlson thing, insomuch as I don’t want to see journalists (even wildly inconsistent ones like Carlson) prosecuted for doing journalism (even if it’s bad journalism), but if he was running afoul of laws and/or trying to undermine the US government, there should probably be some consequences for that.
In Maine-adjacent news, everything described in this post checks out for the type of behavior Maine Democrats engage in. I hope that one day people will actually learn about National Socialism and appreciate the deep irony of a political party calling everyone who disagrees with them “Nazis” while simultaneously advocating for race-based social justice, censoring their political opponents, rent controls, wage controls, price controls, disarming the population, and ideologically capturing every public institution imaginable.
I’m on the fence with the whole Tucker Carlson thing,
He’s just a tool. He loves having something to say. If I were a government guy I’d load him up with false information and let him walk out and do what he does best- yap.
Like one of those old wind up automatons. Crank him up and let him go!
Of course, I only know as much about it as Punnyguy wrote in his post. Minus writers and editors he’s not very interesting, and I don’t pursue any information from or about him.
