Hereās the Maine state law clearly explaining that a 16 year old can get hormone therapy without parental consent. I think more carve outs exist but I would need to spend some time digging into school policies.

It gets even nuttier when you realize that public educators are guiding students into these decisions - which is really just grooming - all under the guise of compassion and understanding. The teacher or counselor then connects the student with a āhealthcareā provider who then goes on to make that 16 year-old a lifetime medical patient. The parents can be clueless about the entire process and that is totally legal in Maine.
Convincing a boy that he should chop off his dick or a girl to chop off her breasts starts way before age 16 in Maine public schools. If an 8 year-old claims to be transgender and claims that their parents would be abusive if they knew, the schools are well within the law to shield this information from parents. Lewiston Public Schools has enacted this policy.

First they lie and say it isnāt happening and nobody is trying to make it happen, then they say it is happening but only rarely, then they say that it is a good thing that it is happening and call you a Nazi if you disagree.

Itās a massive public policy priority and Maine Democrats show no signs of walking any of it back. That may be a good thing in the long run, as the fad is already starting to fade. A whole lot of kids are going to grow up, leave the public institutions, and find out that the world doesnāt treat them as special unicorns like the institution did, along with all of the other baggage that comes along with taking cross-sex hormones and (eventually) getting surgery.
