In some amusing local news, a long-time Maine Democratic Party hatchet man who goes by “Crash Barry” (originally from Massachusetts) royally pissed off the commercial fishing community when he was on a mission to dig up dirt on House Minority leader Billy Bob Faulkingham, who runs a lobster boat. The dirt was that Faulkingham paid a 14 year-old under the table to do some lobstering, which is extremely common. My kid got into tuna fishing in the exact same way, although he was in his early 20’s when he first began angling. It is extremely unusual for lobstermen to be targeted like that, and I don’t think it is a coincidence that the first person hit with that labor violation in a long time was the Republican House Minority leader.
Crash Barry has also gone after local school board candidates and activists who make public comment in opposition to school transgender policies, including getting a guy fired from Dunkin’ Donuts by calling his boss to lie about the guy supplying drugs and alcohol to underage girls.
Crash Barry has a substack that’s moderately popular, sometimes featuring other local hatchet men (and women) who run cover for Maine Democratic scams. Amy Fried has been a staunch defender of The Maine Community Foundation diverting mass shooting funds to unrelated immigrant and prisoner advocacy nonprofits, along with being one of the final bosses of Maine’s woke white women.
Long story short, old Crash got a taste of his own medicine and locals are chucking dead fish all over his lawn. Maine’s NPR even covered it, neglecting to mention that he’s been a guest and contributor on their network.
To me it looks weak. Especially that Easter day tweet. It came off as desperate and made it seem like Iran is holding all the cards with the strait of Hormuz.
I think being faced with that type of decision it’s a good time to look back 6 weeks and think about what were doing there in the first place. Didn’t we wipe out their nuclear capability? So why are we still doing this?
They still have the nuclear material according to most reports I’ve read, which is the hardest component of a nuclear bomb to acquire. We built an entire city out of forcibly-acquired farmland in Oak Ridge, TN just to transform Uranium into Uranium 235 during WWII.
Plus the situation in The Straight of Hormuz.
It’s a tough decision to weigh, but the same folks screaming about “war crimes” are often the ones calling themselves anti-fascists today, seemingly perfectly fine with the massive campaign of near-daily “war crimes” we inflicted on Nazi Germany when we carpet bombed their cities.
Would they be screaming “war crimes” if we did the same thing in 1937 to stop Germany’s nuclear ambitions? We didn’t have that capability in 1937, but if we did, they’d probably object. Some people lack the ability to conceive of a lesser of two evils scenario and can only think of themselves as the good guy in every morally murky situation.
Shell built a gigantic cracker plant over by @Basement_Gainz . I didn’t know the world needed so many crackers or that they were a petroleum product. They’re so light and crispy!
The U.S. imported roughly 6.5 to 6.6 million barrels per day (b/d) of crude oil in 2024, with Canada supplying over 60% of that total. While importing, the U.S. remains a net petroleum exporter overall due to high domestic production (approx. 13.4 million b/d) and exports of refined products.
Still a net petroleum exporter. Refining the crude to other petroleum products increases its value. So, we import x value and sell it at x+y value. Who would do that?
We should be focusing on that. I don’t see a scenario where we destroy the country and then they willingly give up nuclear material, but I could be wrong.
That wasn’t an issue 7 weeks ago.
What? Who’s committing war crimes? Though technically “war crimes” is a loaded term that has no meaning. “International law” same thing. Geneva convention goes right out the window as soon as war get real.
Here’s some footage of that. Perhaps these are all perfectly willing martyrs including the children, but not even Nazi Germany was willing to line up women and children at strategic targets prior to bombings to try and turn international opinion against the Allies. The closest they did was conscript young boys to defend Berlin.
The “Midlife Crisis” Ribeye
Ingredients:
1 high-mileage Ribeye (A5 Wagyu).
2 quarts Synthetic 5W-30 (Full synthetic preferred, has a cleaner finish).
1 pinch of Rusty Lug Nut Filings for texture (wild caught from a mechanic shop floor is best, but you can make your own with a spice blender at home).
Sear the steak in the oil, garnish with lug nut filings and serve with a side of brake fluid reduction.
We aren’t a signatory to the 1949 convention that defined “war crimes” to include power plants and bridges, but that’s what people are generally referring to when they accuse Trump of threatening “war crimes”.
Pinch points are a problem and make ships an easy target for piracy and essentially hostage taking.
We’re the only singular force in the world with the air ground and naval capabilities to enforce its opening and shit can the shenanigans.
Like with the Houthis, Egypt, etc. Its a thing we do. I’m sure theres some benefit to us at an international level, But I can’t see that far down the supply chain. . Above my pay grade.
Possibly. We certainly want them to think we would. It wouldn’t be the first time a nuclear power plant got bombed. Isreal did it to Iraq, Russia did it to Ukraine, and it has also happened in other countries, too. It won’t cause a nuclear explosion to happen, but it could result in some pretty bad scenarios with contamination and radiation.
