It’s not quite the same thing, because celebrating murder isn’t the same thing as believing that a 43 year old with a penis cannot be a women’s Olympic weightlifting competitor, but I’m sure a lot of dumbasses who were too dumb or too indoctrinated to realize the implications of what they said will get swept up into this.
I do think it is needed pushback with public school employees. I didn’t know anything about the politics of my high school teachers in the 90’s, and that should be the standard in public education. Keep a lid on it.
If it’s kept to “cancelling” direct calls to violence and unambiguous celebrations of political violence, I think it is good no matter which side does the cancelling. The problem with the leftwing concept is the typical inversion of reality where liberal violence is explained away as speech and conservative speech is explained away as violence.
That inversion of reality seems normal to many today, which is how we got to where we’re at.
It isn’t censorship, not even if the government revokes visas for people engaging in it. That’s actually pretty normal for any nation with an interest in self-preservation to do. That’s why they call it “gestapo” tactics today.
Post ww2 world every child of the west is taught the worst thing you could ever be is a nazi and we need to ensure nazis never come back to power anywhere. If you look through old posts on this site, numerous people including myself have stated for years, if you keep telling people their enemies are “literally nazis,” eventually they’ll get violent because it’s been pounded into their heads that it’s justified. Likewise, if you keep telling people they are “literally nazis,” eventually they’ll say to themselves, “if im treated like a nazi for my rational views, I might as well be a nazi and act irrationally.” The last right wing (broadly speaking) violent reaction, was OK city. I’d really prefer we don’t go there.
I’m sure there will be lone wolf attacks and small friend group activity in our future. We have been in a cold culture war for years and I don’t see a real path to reconciliation, not because of vengeance but because ideology has split in ways that are not compatible when applied.
Many issues to dive in to, but for some reason trans get a lot of attention here. So for an example, you can either have men in drag in women’s bathrooms or not. There really is no middle. The ideology behind Each thought will not agree, and is principle on either side.
I doubt there will be scaled attacks like Timothy McVeigh. It’s not easy to just make and then deliver a bomb powerful enough to take down a multi-story steel frame building or similar large structure. Some of the mass shooters have attempted bombs, and their rudimentary anarchy cookbook creations have largely failed, with the exception of Tennessee which is a little suspicious anyways.
I am aware of militia activity in my neck of the woods, but it doesn’t look like dumb hicks with hand me down shotguns. There are everyday people in the mix but the framework consists of county sheriff leadership level people across counties, former but plugged in military plus active duty military.
I’m very loosely familiar but it’s my understanding the play is that once clear groups are identified in schemes to overthrow or undermine a fairly elected govt, targeted and coordinated mobilization would occur if proper channels are not working or compromised.
I think the 1:1 Antifa vs Proud Boy stuff will likely stay street level, but if Antifa does prove to be a loosely militarized arm of an instigating entity, it will likely receive organized crime and terroristic designations with requisite federal response.
I personally believe we are not officially “hot” because neither side can really define the other yet. A civil war would be literally neighbor vs neighbor, fought from the grocery store to elementary school carpool lines.
So this does leave room for lone wolf angst but I just don’t see the sophistication for the “left” to attack 50% of America they believe to be Nazis, or for the “right” to blow up buildings, because there are no “left” buildings. Except for maybe abortion clinics, but that has already been happening.
Radical leftists aren’t organized enough to form combat units, but they can continue to do what they’ve been doing for the last 10 years, longer if you go back to Weather Underground era. I was actually adjacent to left-wing terrorism in the early 2000’s when a building where I worked had a firebombing attempt by the Earth Liberation Front.
On a positive note, I just listened to a remarkably accurate report about the alleged Kirk assassin on NPR. The day it happened they were in full-on “Charlie Kirk was known for right-wing extremism” mode, but that was also a different show/host.
Lewiston at least has a solid DA, unlike other parts of Maine where democratic socialist activists got the job.

I had heard the name Hasan Piker before but I didn’t know anything about him until I watched this compilation and looked into his audience, which seems to be around 3 million people. That’s larger or at least comparable to Steven Colbert’s audience.
The whole Nazi and fascist lie takes place on a spectrum of radicalization. At the base of it you have “moderate” Democrats and mainstream media outlets repeating it for years, along with using other words to suggest the same thing like “authoritarian” or “threat to Democracy”. Then the social media influencers take it further, with increasingly fact-free thought processes, while none of the “mainstream” or “moderate” people ever call out their own radicals.
This happened in my town when my barber was ruthlessly harassed for months after making public comment. She’s wasn’t even politically active prior to her daughter being beaten and making a public comment at a school board meeting, which triggered the harassment campaign that included a dedicated hate webpage calling her a Nazi shared all over reddit, twitch, discord, and the other sewers that handle the flow of toxic ideological sludge.
They call us Nazis so it is okay to use extreme methods to stop us, including what Hassan Piker unambiguously calls for in this shocking clip.
I think the actual numbers of people who agree are quite small, but the number of people who vote for more because they believe propaganda is still quite high. There are a whole lotta blue no matter who boomers out there who still trust NPR, major networks, and their local newspapers.
I’m still eagerly awaiting two different assholes to follow through on their threats against me for publicly speaking against the concept of low barrier homeless shelters, which is a fancy word for publicly funded flophouse.

The whole web of Democrats, nonprofits, and activist foot soldiers are full of some really nasty, cowardly people who find facts offensive and project their twisted thoughts onto other people.
When they get frustrated with their own inability to explain their emotions about politics, they express themselves with violence or other acts of destruction.
I don’t think it is much more complicated than that for most of the activist types.

I’m completely unsympathetic towards any who get deported at this point. Maine has no history of state oppression prior to recently, when it began importing a new voting bloc of ineligible voters with public money to exploit the inherent lack of security in our election system. You can also argue that the state oppresses women by eliminating all of the legal definitions that preserved the safety of women’s-only spaces. Our de facto two tier justice and public school administration could also be called oppressive, when skin color, self-declared identity, and immigration status is used as a factor in so many cases.
It is extremely rude to go to another country who accepts you as a welcome guest and then proceed to foment a socialist political revolution. As long as no US Citizens are deprived of rights, I support this change in immigration policy. Enough is enough.
I never followed Charlie Kirk or watched his podcast, but JD Vance guest hosted yesterday and gave some excellent closing remarks. He’s just as on-point here as he was in his speech at The Munich Conference where he called out European speech controls. Well worth a listen.

In local news, Maine’s big city of Portland has been doubling down on increasingly absurd left-wing media narratives. If Charlie Kirk is hateful for having Christian beliefs, wait until they learn about the ultra-fascist Amish community. Both the district attorney and Portland’s largest newspaper got in on it.
