I disagree here. I don’t think Biden would have tried to boost the economy in 2017-2018 with tax cuts. The economy was already hot, and most economists warned against doing so. It takes away at least some of the power the government has to spur the economy in the event of a poor economy down the road. Having the economy be a bit less hot going into Covid, and having the ability to spend more when Covid did hit would have helped with economic recovery IMO.
With you on this. I wouldn’t say I am ultra left or anything. I voted for McCain and Romney (just saying this to combat the idea that I’d hate him no matter what). I believed and still do that those men had character. That they were motivated to do what they thought was best for the country. I think Trump is motivated to do what is best for him, and what is good for his constituents is a distant second.
I am hoping all goes well under Trump. I want what is best for the US.

If I were to guess what Trump believes is best for him is to be considered one of the best Presidents that America has ever had. That is clearly the most egotistical desire he could have.

I think the US media is probably the biggest story of this election.
Years of coordinating closely with Democrats and neocons to paint their political opponents in the most ghastly terms possible have completely and totally backfired. Nobody trusts what they say anymore.
I suppose it was an inevitable arc with the introduction of the internet and citizen-journalists armed with video cameras everywhere they go. A small handful of media outlets simply cannot control a narrative like they could in the 20th century and prior.
Hopefully the Democrats just stop trying to censor people, but I don’t think they can give up on their silly rhetoric or mechanisms to misinform and manipulate the increasingly few people who want them in power.

A sharp eye needs to be kept on their chip away strategy. Like, “Not all speech is free. Misinformation shouldnt be!” And even though Im not like a super 2A guy, I appreciate the value of it. So “You can have guns, just not those ones” really doesn’t fly with me.
Nor does infringement on our right to free association. That wasn’t even an issue until leftists started fucking every long standing labor union in the US, but now that its part of the plan, we need to look out for that. That goes for gun clubs, militias, and any other social group.

Another story I think worth pointing out that is purely anecdotal for me is the exodus of gen-x 1990’s Clinton Democrats to this new Republican party that’s shaping up.
Almost every single outspoken and active “far-right extremist” in Lewiston, Maine that I know personally are former Democrats, which makes a lot of sense since it is Maine. I think a lot of the people who were on board with “safe, legal and rare” abortions, gay marriage, legalizing pot and other policy priorities of Dems 30 years ago have realized that they can’t get behind unlimited abortions up until birth, giving children cross-sex hormones and allowing people to shoot fentanyl in the park.

If I went to my hometown in Indiana, sat down in the largest public park, erected a tarp shelter and then shot drugs into my body like people do everyday in Lewiston’s Kennedy Park, I would be promptly arrested and taken to jail.
