If I were to go by anecdote there is no correlation. I have one EXTREMELY good looking male friend (model good looks) who girls used to throw themselves at while he was in HS when looks alone was more than good enough to go on… he is ultra left
Meanwhile my 1st cousin is good looking/no trouble getting girls and is conservative. He was an awkward, tiny teenager until the age of 17-18 when he suddenly shot up from like 5’4 to 6 foot… really unexpected as his father is 5’6 at a push and his mother is around 5’1… yet their daughters are 5’4 and 5’7… son is now like 6 foot and a quarter… everyone thought life was going to be hard for him as he was such an awkward/scrawny, tiny looking kid and he wound up being like a perfect ten!
Now he is in the millitary and he has gone from scrawny/gangly to jacked overnight and he has amazing insertions, is good looking… he right wing albeit not in the traditional sense as he is only nineteen/twenty and girls are throwing themselves at him. Outside of having quite a bit of sex he would be considered very right wing for someone his age… there are different subtypes of conservative… some conservatives are ok with hedonism esp the libertarian subtypes.
There actually is some data to suggest better looking people in general (not just women) who are taller, have more attractive facial features, better physiques are more likely to be conservative but it’s not some “slam dunk” rule.
Would you believe it if I told you this is common in some countries? Like In Germany I believe the statistic is 40% of men sit down to urinate. In Australia it’s 20-25%… I always thought that was/is absurd.
Maybe it’s more common in countries where men need to clean their own toilets.

Yes, a trope that implies all men are incapable of thinking without their genitalia. Men who make unflattering statements, or who want law and order, must be womanless.

I work with many young women, but do not speak to them about this for obvious reasons. Like others in this thread I am aware of the political divide between young men and women.
I saw a post on X in which a woman filmed herself scrolling through a dating app and discarding all men who were apolitical or republican/conservative.
Like height, I cannot recall one conversation about sexual selection from the 90s and aughts regarding this.
Of the women I do associate with outside of work, they are nearly all are Gen X or early millenial, reside or were raised on Long Island, and some are homeschoolers. They are mostly “conservative” and vote as such. So that’s a very biased crowd.

General thought process seems to be that somehow he/she is bitter and failed in life and he/she points that bitterness to hate towards men/women.
This might be true in some extreme cases, but generally it’s just a trope, as you said.

Well, Canada elected someone who is not Pierre Poillivre to Primre Minister in what the legacy media are characizing as a reaction to politics in the USA, specifically Trump.
Counts for parliament are underway, but it looks like Canada has chosen to embrace the political path we just turned away from.
It will be interesting to see how differently everything plays out. I’ll be curious to see how migration continues up north. I read that Alberta was one of the fastest growing provinces in the world.

Might be. Liberals were going towards a huge loss in elections. It all turned 180 degrees when Trump started his speeches about Canada.

That was an interesting article. It left me needing some deeper analysis about the subject. Maybe rebublicans put more effort to how they dress/make up? I tried to look, but the subject is not widely studied.
I’m also wondering how Europe would fare with this kind of study, since the political divisions are pretty different to US and the ”hot leftie girl” is a sort of a trope of it’s own.
There is not still strong scientific evidence about this subject, and I doubt we’ll get any further with this topic.

I would disagree. There are differences within states that can be more significant than those between states. Voting shows this in places like NY state and CA. I would say that a rural community in New England has more in common with a similar community in the Midwest than it does with a large city that might only be an hour away. Detroit, Chicago, Baltimore, Atlanta, St. Louis, all have more in common with each other than they do with the suburbs within the states they share. Not understanding this reality is a major problem for the Democrats. You have suburbanites, who very well might be liberal, who see the Dems as trying to foist inner city problems upon their communities. Not to go too far off topic, but when a suburb gives too much decision making power to people who don’t have kids, things go downhill. And the party that can connect with people with (nuclear) families, typically those who live in suburbs and rural communities, will get their vote.

I’m excited that The Flaming Lips are comings to Maine later this year. Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots was one of my stepson’s favorite albums when he was a litle kid, maybe second to MGMT’s Oracular Spectacular. It will be both of our first Flaming Lips show.
