Does anyone remember how Facebook would ban you if you said it came from the lab and not a pangolin eating Chinese person? It was literally in their terms of service.

I work with an older gent who was still wearing a mask after we were told we no longer had to wear them. I thought it was weird but someone told me he had had heart surgery not that long before covid hit. After reading your posts on the subject, I can see why he wasn’t playing around when it came to catching covid.

Yeah. I had a 6 month window (june 2019) between heat attack, initial recovery, more stents (august 2019) then cardiac rehab (3 mos.) Then that shit hit the fan around Jan. 2020.
I was almost convinced that my time was up. Then the defiance kicked in! 
A friend of mine, and damn tough mofo in his own rite, said “Nothing external can take you out. Nothing!”

I’m not sure that covid origins we’re purposefully lied at any point in the west. It’s not easy to get information from China, specially when they fucked up so badly (this kinda reminds me how Chernobyl was handled in USSR).
The origins have been debated for a while and at least CIA and Germany’s intelligence service have been pointing out that it might have escaped from a lab (probably by a mistake). It’s not likely we ever find out excactly what happened, since China won’t admit anything.
I personally think first weeks/months lockdowns were understandable, because we had no clue and had to do something. Later it was a bit ridiculous.
Many countries did misuse the situation too, I won’t deny that. I was lucky to live in a country where restrictions weren’t insane.
I’m only 99 percent sure they were. It is no coincidence that the same people in the government who said it was racist to say it came from the literal virus lab in Wuhan are the ones now saying it is fascist to deport illegal aliens.
It’s the same crowd who orchestrated history’s most comprehensive smear campaign against Donald Trump before he was shot in an unbelievable security failure.
It’s the same crowd who claimed that they couldn’t control the border without an act of Congress, which Trump immediately proved false..
It’s the same crowd who says my elections are secure and voter id is racist.
It’s the same crowd who say men can be women and women at the gym or women’s shelters must tolerate mentally ill men and their penises, which can be even more womanly than they are.
All why they laugh their way to millions and receive preemptive pardons from a president they insisted was mentally competent.

Pope Francis has died. I’ve always wondered how much he knew of or endorsed Catholic Charities of Maine trafficking of migrants into Maine, who then become the moral responsibility of Maine citizens and taxpayers through our social safety net.
On the surface there certainly is a moral argument for helping people go from a dangerous place to a safe one, but I still haven’t heard a coherent explanation of Lewiston’s moral obligation to take in, provide for and educate 2000 non English speaking children and teach them in a combined 42 languages.
If the Church is interested in better human outcomes, it cannot destroy the societies that enable them.
Will Catholic Charities facilitate the relocation of the working poor in Lewiston who are woken up by gunshots every week? What about the children who witness people being gunned down as they are coming home from school? What about the ones who find dead bodies and who have to play outside in parks and libraries where the political priority are drug addicts, not families with children?
Hopefully the next Pope has a conception of compassion that doesn’t align with Democratic Socialist political priorities. How many migrants were granted sanctuary in Vatican City?
We’re going to make The Vatican great again. Nobody has ever seen a Pope as holy as I am.
