Israel could also done more consentrated and calculated strikes, but that would have been more expensive. Israeli government gives no value of palestinian lives, or won’t cry over the killed babies tied to the tanks, so why bother?

However this took place over two weeks…. Israel’s war has been ongoing for 1.5 years and we have seen 25000 civilian casualties out of a substantially larger population. Now I will say it’s incredibly sad so many people have died, I don’t want to see loss of life outside the confines of Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad
But that’s what you get for staging the largest pogrom on Jewish people in recorded history since the holocaust… then dragging Israeli civilians back into Gaza whilst civilians grope and prod at hostages… one REALLY bad video I saw was a soldier brought in who had lost a leg, drifting in and out of consciousness civilians tortured him by poking/prodding and jabbing at the stump of the male soldiers dismembered leg.
I saw some seriously sick shit… it wasn’t up for long but Hamas initially live streamed much of what they did and for a while some of these videos were available on telegram… though it wasn’t long until the majority of the really sick videos were taken down which is unfortunate as many of them dispel myths from Oct 7 denialists.
Isrsel clearly doesn’t give a fuck about public opinion from the west… if they wanted to they could have absolutely killed off half of Gaza (or all of Gaza) by now… and they could have done so without batting an eye.
Now when I think about it, I’m not sure it can be actually be called genocide, since there is no systematic killing and destroying whole ethnic group is not the goal.

However I’d argue for every war crime, every violation of international law… Hamas commits five times as many violations for every time we see Isrsel break the rules
Civilians in the case of this conflict aren’t protected unfortunately as Hamas refuses to fight in uniform… violating the rules of war… in which case another country is genuinely given a free pass to open fire on civilians if combatants are hidden within civilian infrastructure

This is unprecedented for war given it also notifies the enemy of an impending attack or raid, potentially meaning hostages are relocated even
If they just wanted to kill Palestinians indiscriminately warning wouldn’t be given
I also shift the blame onto Hamas for deliberately using civilian infrastructure, civilian homes, refugee camps and UNWRA facilities for bases and/or storing weapons
They fire FROM hospitals and densely crowded civilian populated areas to maximize casualties and drum uo bad press against Israel

I have enough awful government to keep track of locally without worrying about Israel. Maine Democrats pulled a surprise vote on LD260 today without putting it on the public calendar. They tried to amend Maine’s constitution to enshrine gender identity as a protected class. It failed 74-69 in the house. Being a constitutional amendment, it needed 2/3s to pass.
It wouldn’t change much about the state since it is already the law. Making it an amendment makes it much harder to get rid of, which is why they haven’t had much success with gun control here.
