I have a wierd brain. When it sees crap like Tapper and other junk journalists create confusion, it just disregards. Like it was never even said.
If its not words from the horses mouth, it just doesn’t mean anything to me. I was thought to have some sort of learning disability for a long time because of this.
A quick google search gives his complete policy proposal and the context of it. It was quite clearly a temporary ban borne out of the belief that an unacceptably high number of Muslim radicals are entering the country and the self-reported beliefs of this population are fundamentally incompatible with our society.
This belief has facts that support it. A rational society would be cautious about importing people who openly hold beliefs that would cause problems here.
That’s not a perpetual Muslim ban and that’s nothing like any Nazi policy, either.
Donald J. Trump is calling for a total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States until our country’s representatives can figure out what is going on. According to Pew Research, among others, there is great hatred towards Americans by large segments of the Muslim population.
Most recently, a poll from the Center for Security Policy released data showing “25% of those polled agreed that violence against Americans here in the United States is justified as a part of the global jihad” and 51% of those polled, “agreed that Muslims in America should have the choice of being governed according to Shariah”.
Shariah authorizes such atrocities as murder against non-believers who won’t convert, beheadings and more unthinkable acts that pose great harm to Americans, especially women.
Mr. Trump stated, ‘Without looking at the various polling data, it is obvious to anybody the hatred is beyond comprehension’.
‘Where this hatred comes from and why we will have to determine. Until we are able to determine and understand this problem and the dangerous threat it poses, our country cannot be the victims of horrendous attacks by people that believe only in Jihad, and have no sense of reason or respect for human life.’

Okay, NOW, after allll that, I will conceded I do not actually think Trump is going to send the military after Pelosi or Schiff … BUT why the fuck can no one admit that those are the things he is actually saying? Because they are very much the words coming out of his mouth

To me That sounds like a very vague way to say “for as long as I want” while not outright stating its perpetual, does it not?

The one thing that stood boldly out for me was finally a conservative politician was willing to call out the media and not cowl in fear when called a racist.
The media are mostly ignorant based on all that I have seen.
The one that has me talking to the TV the loudest is they mention a percent without also mentioning either the numerator or the denominator. That is just plain mathematical stupidity. And they reference crime reduction numbers and never ask for a Measurement System Analysis study to support the claim.

I didn’t say you said that, but a lot of people are saying that right now.
To me, this example fits right into typical media mischaracterization where they do everything they can do give people the impression that he wants to ban Muslims entirely somehow or that the president actually responding to information with immigration policy changes is somehow a dictatorial abuse of power.
And again, we have an entire administration’s track record to examine for all of the dictator stuff that just never showed up in the slightest.

It has more to do with a broad willingness to take something he said, infer his true motivation somehow, and then run to wild assumptions about what that actually means for government policy.
We’ve had almost a decade of the people who peddle this stuff being wrong over and over again. Totally wrong.
I told I don’t believe what politicians say. You don’t seem to believe me. I don’t vote “for” anyone. I vote “against” any progressive politician.

No president gets 100% blame on the economy
It is my default to be suspicious of ANYONE who seeks public office in 2024.
Especially after being shot, Trump has raised far, far fewer suspicions than nearly any other politician on the national stage. He was already rich and could have retired in luxury. Whatever his motivations might be, I’m more confident about them than all of the people who become multi-millionaires on 160k per year in Congress.
That at least tells me something about how you arrive at voting for Trump, because apparently it isnt anything the guy actually says.

Im not trying to be obtuse here… But given how almost everyone has responded here to the video evidence of Trump saying the thing he said, isnt that essentially what every Trump voter does as well?

The only difference is that the right does it in his favor and the left does it to his detrmient, but they are both doing the same exact thing
