This is unknown to the public, but the pattern with our Muslim-involved shootings seems to be an unwillingness of anyone in that faith community to come forward with names. Most shootings now “conclude” with statements like the one you just read, with no arrests or further statements that follow.

I’m unsure of how many shootings are actually done by Somalians, either. That community has been here longer than I have, but there have been many new arrivals since the initial Atlanta to Lewiston migration over 20 years ago. We’ve also got a lot of Muslims from different countries after years of open borders, and our public school is now up to 42 languages spoken. Many African and Middle-Eastern countries, along with some of your Afghan kin.

When I moved here it was just English, French, Somalian and I think a few Bantu languages, too. Our public school could handle that, even if it was still more than most schools needed to handle.

The common belief is that most of these are being done by minors, likely under the direction of local drug dealers. I’m really glad my kid graduated in 2018 before the Democratic Socialist takeover and open borders. He graduated with a lot of rock-solid Somalians who also got to experience a functioning Lewiston Public School.

A white guy shot someone outside of a bar a few weeks ago and was swiftly arrested the next day, but let out on a pittance bail. Just yesterday the police officer who shot and killed Leein Hinkley last year was officially cleared. Hinkley stabbed the mother of my kid’s hockey teammate 11 times, only to be let out on an ACLU technicality before killing two more people.

I wouldn’t be nearly as concerned if the violence could be handled more discreetly, but we’re experiencing gun battles in front of children on the school bus and outside of houses of worship, all while white people destroy themselves on our streets for the same children to witness. I only know of one Somalian homeless, who is a troubled woman who refuses all help offered to her.

It is a wild situation, and our current political leadership seems intent on maintaining as much dysfunction as possible.

That is only part of it. Many of the studies are specifically related to gender affirming care.

Their argument is that mice do not have gender identity and therefore cannot be “trans”. That is a human concept.

Mice cannot choose how they identify. The implication of what you’re saying is that transgenders do no choose their identity meaning it is a biological reality. One can genuinely change their sex via gender affirming therapies? Is that your point?

And what’s wrong with studying the effects of gender affirming therapies? It might just lead to ending it.

Well, I might have written something wrong. I would guess that the Imam would finish up the current cycle quickly and then someone from masjid management would get to the front and say … something

But then I would expect the Imam to start again and I would expect the majority of people that were praying behind him to resume praying behind him.

For one thing … where they gonna go? Parking lot would be scary until the police come. When the police do come there’s not much to say. “We heard a bunch of gun shots that way (pointing), and then it got quiet. They were close by, it sounded like it was in the parking lot”. Stopping prayers so that every individual can give an individual statement makes little sense (which nobody argued). Probably one to three people from masjid management made that statement while the prayers continued. I can see how that would seem uncooperative to police, while still not seeing what else should be done.

That’s how I see it but I don’t know what happened. Maybe masjid management was less cooperative than I imagine.

The statement said:

I would expect for that to be true

Individuals could stop praying behind the Imam to talk to police, but I wouldn’t expect much

I think the better question is, what the hell qualifies as a clean up effort these days? Some broken glass on a sidewalk? I don’t disbelieve we used airstrikes but I have a hard time believing this was the sum total of damage done. I wouldn’t be shocked if this had nothing to do with airstrikes. It was probably something like this:

All I can speak to is what I read in the article.

I dont think the level of help I’d be willing to offer would change based on whether the person was more or less devoted to the same religion as me. IDK, I don’t practice anything so I just view people as, well, people.

If I could be of some help, I would generally try to help.

In this story, I would think that if people wanted to help - they would make an effort to do so, and the writer of the article would have said something that reflected accordingly.
The author’s impression, which was probably formed from the commentary and opinions of the officers, is that there was a reluctance to help.
I cannot answer why that is. Maybe other communities do not find this to be strange, but I do.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but it does seem as if you’re defending a group of people whom you do not personally know. I’m a tad bit curious as to why.

Let’s hope not. Who are parents to be making those decisions? Let’s let the kids decide what they are, when they’re at least seven-or-eight-years-old. And then we’ll demonize the parents if they don’t play along.

Having that wierd sideways sex where they acknowledge their privilege and gender choices while also embracing their differences. No one is on top or being subjugated, its very neutral and non judgy, etc.

I went to see a doctor last year and the clinic he worked at asked me what my gender was, then they asked what my sex was… then my pronouns

My brothers friend in medicsl school took a video while inside a lecture where the lecturer was going on about how sex is different to gender

It’s unbelievably dumb…
